Miko's father was Mattityahu Peled, a decorated general who fought in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, and served as a general in the Six-Day War of 1967. Mattityahu became a critic of Israel and a participant in dialogue with the Palestine Liberation Organization. Miko himself started out as a proud Zionist and is now an anti-Zionist.
