25 resets and 8 days after frisks last genocide route, sans has lost himself while trying to prepare for frisks arrival, dooming the underground himself in the process. papyrus and undyne have tried to stop him but failed over and over, papyrus was able to survive his fight encounter with sans by caving his skull, which gave him enough time to flee but gave sans brain damage in the process, which is why he has a personality shift
