Before Recognition Recordings emerged, even as an idea, there were experiments in rhythms conducted by Jacek Sienkiewicz in his first bedroom “studio”. “Recognition Zero” brings together some of these tracks, recorded around 1996 without any sequencer, utilising only two machines and some noisy field recordings. 

“Recognition Zero” will be available exclusive from the Recognition Records bandcamp, as digital download and super-limited cassette with custom artwork, and it’s the first in a series of forthcoming re-editions of Jacek’s early works.

Tumult Hands "TH" album(R-EP045) out soon on Recognition ! 

The “Tumult Hands” duet is made by Jacek Sienkiewicz and Jerzy Przeździecki - the producers whose composition has - to a large extent- defined the Polish techno music. 

“Tumult Hands” has two EPs on its account – “Tumult Hands EP” (2014) and “Tropic Factory” (2016). Both were published by Recognition. 

The album titled: “TH” (Recognition, 2022) has been prepared for many years. The repertoire was created mainly out of improvisation. As artists themselves say, “it is the result of discovering and accepting a chance event.” For both producers, close contact with instruments was important during their composition; the type of interaction between the maker and an electronic device. Individual works have been maturing for a long time. Paradoxically - the lapse of time did not cause them to be ageing but vice versa - allowed them to mature and gain natural weight.

Tsar Poloz "I wanna drink" EP - release date 26.05.2014

From the very start, Recognition Digital aims to be a platform for releasing adventurous electronic sounds bordering on club music, also coming from the artists from outside the strictly electronic scene.
Here, we present a brand new release from Tsar Poloz - an extraordinary artist hailing from the bleak, industrial city of Lodz. 
Piotr Poloz is no newcomer - in fact, he's been pretty active on the Polish indie scene, releasing first album in 2001. Apart from a multitude of electronic projects he's involved in, Poloz also sings and plays bass in an indie-rock band Psychocukier.
"I Wanna Drink", his EP for Recognition, is clearly driven by his fascination with some more gritty types of club music, but with a clear pop sensibility - note simple, but catchy melodies and funky bass samples (all played by Poloz on his vintage Polish bass guitar). Somewhere between rough techno and quirky synthpop, Chicago house and cheeky electroclash, three original tunes here are equally amusing and entertaining. These are accompanied by three remixes from well established artists, each providing us with his unique vision of retro-futuristic techno: label boss Jacek Sienkiewicz under his Recognition moniker, up- and coming analogue wizard Chino and a duo of Warsaw veteran DJs - Mic Ostap and Motyl.

"Recognition CD" is the first album ever released on Recognition Records - 25years ago. I clearly remember folding the inserts and packing them into jewel boxes. I sent several pieces abroad to my favourite music magazines - the feedback was surprisingly very good. It gave me fuel for further releases and towards fulfilling my dreams of being a creator, producer and publisher of vinyl records. This was the beginning of my label.
There are as many as 15 different tracks on the album. From experiments through Detroit techno and electro to deeper sounds. Today, some of the tunes can be listened to with a gentle smile, while others still work quite well. 
It is only available on Recognition Bandcamp.

"Ridges" is a result of a creative encounter between veteran of improvised avant-electronics Max Loderbauer (among others, co-creator of Sun Electric, member of Moritz von Oswald Trio, and frequent collaborator of Ricardo Villalobos) and spiritus movens of Warsaw-based label Recognition Jacek Sienkiewicz. Meeting takes place not only on the level of investigating pure sound and building complex structures, but also on the level of fascination with mountainside aura and mystique that is common to both artists: Alps (Loderbauer) and Tatra (Sienkiewicz), as well as with the vocal cultures of communities inhabiting theese areas. Deeply introspective and individualistic confrontation between two peer sensibilities and imaginative worlds gave birth to two separate compositions in the vein of contemplative electronic music at it purest.

"End" marks the meeting of two incurable individualists, who use various tools of their trade to come up with a surprisingly atemporal effect, an insistent pulse of detail on an ever-morphing background. Core of tracks included on the record has been produced on the occasion of Max and Jacek appearing as a live duo during 2015's Berlin Atonal festival, which resulted in well received “Alpine-Tatra-Himalaian" EP "Ridges". Remaining compositions are natural conclusion of their friendship, conversations, meetings, trips and recording sessions that operate according to the rule of free improvisation with a reduced instrumental setup.

"The title is a reference to the number of beats per minute in classic techno music. Jacek Sienkiewicz, a pioneer of techno in Poland, whose works are presented in the exhibition, played in this tempo in the 90s. The term “rave” is used to refer to underground dance events with electronic music—mainly techno which took hold in Poland along with the transformation in the political and economic system in the early 1990s. On one hand they were an expression of the authentic if often naive optimism of the period of transformation. On the other hand they manifested the anxieties of those times of civilizational and technological acceleration."

After last year's expansive and critically very well received "Symphony No 1.Resurrection", and many interesting collaborations in post-jazz territory, 30-year old composer and violinist Tomasz Sroczyński comes back with an album packed with fable-like and enigmatic electronics. Tapping on such disparate sources as Matthew Herbert's crispy rhythmatics and The Residents' mutant pop, Warsaw-based Sroczyński invites his listeners to a wild ride into unknown territory. Nine concise and multilayered compositions included on his new album "Alujella" (Recognition) form a vision of hybrid musical modernism where unexpected elements melt and interweave. It's a constant process, and definitely a kind of escape route from formatted banality, too often evident in today's
"electronica".

“It’s Maths classes. A red-haired boy sits in the back, rhythmically tapping his fingers on a table like a madman. Although other students’ eyesight is focused on the formula being written on the blackboard, the boy could not care less. Out of a corner of his eye he notices as the sequence of numbers slowly begins to melt off the blackboard, glittering with colours, and finally spills all over the floor like a fractal leakage from some other dimension. Students from the first rows, scared, put their legs up - and then you start to hear the rhythm. The sounds, once set free, feedback from the walls and find their way to all chinks and cracks, circle all around to finally reach the teacher’s ear. The lady cannot stop the upcoming fury, grabs Krzysztof Ostrowski (number 28) by his ear and circumventing the leakage she leads him out of the classroom. It’s not the first nor the second time such thing happens. Years later, the boy finally sits by the machine; subtle light comes through the window slightly ajar, the curtain dances with the wind. Krzysztof, bent, is programming the rhythm.”

It’s warm and bright Autumn of 2018 and Krzysztof emerges again, this time on vinyl released by Jacek Sienkiewicz’s label Recognition. The experimental style of “Primary Fluctuation” might come as a surprise to many of Jacek’s followers, but there are surely some common features for the two artists - from attention to detail to a kind of serious melancholy present in their music. Ostrowski’s record is a journey through futuristic polyrhythm, with enough space for menacing basses or unorthodox samples, reminding the aesthetics of fusion of broken techno and bass music championed recently by the labels like Timedance or Livity Sound. Four tracks (five in digital version) make up a cohesive, intriguing and surprising record, announcing series of special releases prepared by Recognition for the forthcoming months.

Krzysztof Ostrowski lives in Bygdoszcz; for years he’s been creating all forms of electronic music, from elusive sonic research to forthright techno with an experimental twist. Additionally, his work as a trumpeter in a military marching band surely broadens his musical scope. He records solo as Freeze, or in duets with Piotr Cisak or Mateusz Wysocki/Fischerle (as IFS).

Remember “Drifting”? Four years after releasing one of his most popular tracks Jacek Sienkiewicz is suddenly back with another tune, also bound to become a soundtrack to many summer nights - or mornings.

“Lightin’” is decidedly different from Jacek’s serious, experimental albums released earlier this year - lightweight, soft, gentle and tuneful, seems just perfect for a summer festival afterparty - but equally appropriate for a romantic evening for two. As “Drifting”, it’s also accompanied by a pastel video by Michał Marczak, evoking afterimages of a carefree time filled with warmth, friendship, and love.

Is “Lightin’” just a one-off diversion from Jacek's latest sonic experiments? Or a forerunner for something bigger? We’ll get to know this sooner or later, right now let’s enjoy the sunny glare...

The new album by Robert Piotrowicz does not fit any category. What this multicoloured electronic instrumentation aims to channel is the acoustic experience and energy of the performing musician. As a result of a wide range of creative means used, the narrative language of the compositions bursts with tension and mystery.
The album includes slow hypnotic passages of stone electronics (“To Fleh”), vigorous tempos and circular repetitions (“Euzo Found Gitar”), sprawling artificial soundscapes, back-to-origins ethnicity (ethnical subsoil and elements) liberated from any geographical identity (“Ocarina Wars”), as well as dreamlike minimalism with unpretentious cinematographic traits (“Flares Et Wasser Hole”). Some of these unusual melodic patterns may resemble the corporality of the animal throat rather than any human-created instrument (“Electros Spong”).
Although Euzebio was recorded with synths, the final shape of individual tracks and the album’s overall acoustic image go far beyond any electronic genre. The instruments have not become a goal in itself. They were merely a building block, a tool that helped achieve the album’s extended structure - a diverse whole with rich spatial features.
