Solipsism is an archival release of music from https://soundcloud.com/mike-simonetti 's tenure as owner of Italians Do It Better Records, spanning from 2006-2013. During that time Mike wrote a lot of music. Some of it was used for films, some for TV commercials, some for fashion shows and he even released a record or two.

Influenced by the intersection of 80's arena rock bands like AC/DC and Judas Priest, glam rock/dance bands like Rockets and Supermax, and especially the underground Italian producer Piero Umiliani - the album is chock-full of atmospheric rock-inspired arpeggiated riffs. The mixture of metal and chugging dance music makes for a unique listening experience. Every song has a riff, every song is heavy and dense. Only one song goes above 118 BPM. These are heavy chuggers that make for a tense emotional experience that exceeds your standard, easy-to-write-off “soundtrack” fare, mainly because it was never written with that in mind. It was meant to be a fist-pumping arena rock inspired thumper! You can hear that in the one two punch of “A Prayer For War” into “Illusions", which is an outtake from his "The Magician" sessions. Other songs like “Solipsism” showcase the airy melodies of that were to come with his other project Pale Blue, but that is not typical on this album. If you listen closely, you can hear how Simonetti’s music and dark vibes inspired his then label partner Johnny Jewel to take his own bands Chromatics and Glass Candy in a different, more cinematic direction.

This was written and recorded years before the Drive soundtrack and all the hoopla around the sudden soundtrack resurgence. In 2011 Mike was asked to submit some songs for a soon to be released Hollywood remake. He submitted most of the songs from this album, and they were slated for release on the soundtrack, but the project fell apart, and the film went in a different direction and changed producers. Soon after, because of all the drama and foolishness, he left Italians Do It Better to start over with 2MR and Pale Blue. This is the nail in the coffin. Godspeed.

J.Shore: The Night After is my favorite track from the album. The whole creation process was a small, lucky accident. In February 2011 I was listening to Tsuumi's "Growing Up" album (open.spotify.com/track/1vlWVCUS7B3R4vS3dbErkL) and I'm sure something got stuck to our piano themes as well. Lauri Kallio brought the track to the next level with his amazing guitar skills and live strings gave the finishing touch. I wish making new tracks would always be this easy.

Orion: The main inspiration for me was the eerie feeling of Gustavo Santaolalla's amazing track Iguazu (www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1cpR8H0sno). The Silk label guys said The Night After reminds them of Game of Thrones series but I can't get this wild west feeling out of my head when I listen to this. Even though most of the tracks on "Brotherhood" album include live strings and pianos, this is the only one which was combined of live instruments only. No plug-ins, synths or similar here, only digitally produced parts are a couple of effects.

A leading light of Shanghai’s musical underground for years, RBMA alumni ChaCha presents ‘Moon Mad’, her first album as Faded Ghost. Not only in name does Faded Ghost immediately call up associations with hauntology – the album revels in the kind of nostalgia for lost futures pioneered musically by Burial in the early 2000s. On “Lunatic Romance”, which we’re premiering here, the forlorn, smeared vocal snippets emerge as shadows behind menacing synth growls and thin layers of noisy crackling. About a third into the song, the ghostly remnants of a dubby bass line emerge, which seems to signal either comfort or impending doom – depending on which way the moonlight shines on it.

Faded Ghost’s ‘Moon Mad’ LP is out soon on June 9th via SVBKVLT.

As Guy J's exceptional Lost & Found imprint reaches the milestone 50 releases, they look back at 3 moments which have made the label so successful. Guy J's seminal label celebrates its 50th release with a two remixes of famed Israeli artist, Eitan Reiter. Having recently finished his second long player, Reiter has the uncanny ability to create a bewildering cross section of styles with aplomb. Featured here are Guy's remixes of 'All That I Know' and 'Fade Away' which have been big crowd pleasers in his shows this year.



'All That I Know' was originally released on Armadillo Records back in November 2017 as part of his second solo album, Give It Life. In original form, its space rhythms and delicate sonics shape the track atmospherically. Guy takes that energy and injected his own dance floor voodoo to add some necessary late night groove.



Also taken from the Give It Life album, 'Fade Away' marries deep pads, trip hops beats and influences of Shoegaze. Upping the tempo and adding a hefty dose of funk from the off, Guy brings this detailed and finespun masterpiece onto the frontlines of twenty first century clubland. Subtle and patient the pay off is in the ride.

The Working Elite are Berlin-based spark plugs Thomas “Saap” Sabrowsky, of Extra Producktion, Terre des Pommes, ex-marine soldier, seasoned cook and barkeeper; and Daniel "D´LonelyAl" Nentwig, who co-directs Extra Produktionen, plays keyboard and electric bass for various outfits, and engineers at Berlin’s Butterama Recording Center. Suffice it to say, the pair have named their collaborative project suitably. The Working Elite create recreational music for dancers to shimmer through the days and nights of balmy season.


Following a killer acid-piano house 12” and contributing a Test Pressing-certified new-disco chug to a split release with Tuff City Kids (both) on Terre des Pommes in 2014, The Working Elite further refine their ability to soundtrack festivities with Rockman / Born Again. “Rockman” conveys an understatedly cinematic mood with repeated imitation string cycles over crisp electro foundations.

A key part of the new hot latin american techno scene, Roman & Castro are well respected figures in the Chilean local scene by their own means. The former as a member of tropical psych pop band MKRNI and DJ, and the latter as a radio host, music blogger and also a DJ. They started making music together in 2013, motivated by the respect they had for each others selections as DJs. Soon came along remixes for heavy hitters like Gepe, Dënver and Sanfuentes, as well as their very well received debut EP, called Bueno Ya, on local legend DJ Raff's label Pirotecnia.

2015 saw them hit not once, but twice, with EPs both on Disque Discos (Mijo and Eddie Mercury's label in Mexico) and Sanfuentes Records, locating them as a must see act in the techno latino environment. Seeing them play together is a must in Santiago's nightlife, with sets that will regularly make you sweat and - as they say on defining track "Bajo" - , go all your way down.

This 2016 they expanded their quest on a regional level with a successful first tour in Mexicio, and the Fauna Primavera lineup, this time as the main act in the local electronic stage. In that festival they released their fourth EP, and second for Pirotecnia, with collaborations with Mijo, colombian Dany F and fellow Chileans Valesuchi and labelmate Guerra.

2017 saw them conquering the electronic stage in Lollapalooza Chile, normally reserved for EDM acts, playing in front of 8,000 people, and also debuting their live act later in the year, which made them play for the first time in Barcelona and Paris, and also come back to Fauna Primavera as well as playing in the first version of Dekmantel Festival.

In 2018 they came back to Lollapalooza, this time on an open air stage, and brought with them former Hercules & Love Affair singer Nomi Ruiz (Jessica 6), with whom they will release a EP of original songs in the near future. Before the end of the year they will also
team up with mexican Iñigo Vontier to put out a collaborative EP on San Francisco’s Roam Recordings.

Exclusive Mike Simonetti 'The Edge'

Jersey tastemaker, 2MR label head and part of electronic duo Pale Blue Mike Simonetti drops his album 'Solipsism', a collection of music that was written between 2006 and 2013 and depicts the artist's musical reflection and retrospect of that time. The album's opening track, 'The Edge', is a slow synths-influenced take that, of course and in best Simonetti style, includes memorable riffs. A dark chord marks 'The Edge's' beginning and is enriched with a spoken vocal in French and piano chords and make it hard for the listener to escape from Simonetti's created atmosphere. And just as you think 'The Edge's' story has been told a downtempo bass line sets in that raises the melancholia of the track to another level and to the next track.
