The wheels kept spinning as the car travelled down the long, winding road. In the distance there was little light remaining but he continued to drive through what was left, the motion was underway and soon he would arrive at his final destination. The towering hills rose up to the sky alongside the twisted concrete path and soon the glow of the headlights would be all that could guide the way. For now the hum of the engine was enough for company, for now. 

Ilija Rudman is set to appear on a new EP for Is It Balearic? He is remixed by none other than Italo house legend Don Carlos who delivers a charming melodic inspired remix.

The night had drawn to a close and there was little noise left in the small basement. The reverb echoed loudly from the machine in the corner but it was not a sweet sound or tone but bitter and dull. The band had left the room some time ago but the crowd remained loyally attached to the stage - hoping and praying for the return of their heroes. Little did they in fact know that this was the end of times, the last dance and a farewell outing. Soon they would leave but not just yet, not now. 

The Golden Filter continue to delight and inspire, a duo with a sense of purpose and a formidable swagger. Optimo did very well indeed to snap them up and their music demonstrates supreme quality.

By exploring different moods with smooth sailing and rough patches, It is an intense journey in the murky world of psychological mass conspiracy. This LP could very well be the soundtrack for an cutting-edge Orwellian sci-fi movie or an imagined futuristic venue where music and dance of a new kind are performed. Forward-thinking dance music from the future seems like the most accurate description for this album devoid of any tropes or nostalgia.

Recognise is DJ Mag's new monthly mix series, introducing artists we love that are bursting onto the global electronic music scene.

This month, we speak to our favourite bent electro/warped jungle maniac, Textasy. The DJ/producer from Dallas has hewn a unique sound from surprising ingredients, pillaging dance music history and stealing the best bits from electro, breakbeat hardcore and acid techno to create an exultant and explosive mixture. 

His 'Off The Leash' EP for Natural Sciences contained a DJ Mag single of 2017 in 'Illusions Of The Mind', an emission of elastic body-popping electro funk with eerie synths and a diversion into spooky stalker thriller territory in its mid track bass swap, while 'Breakbeat Lizard' from 'Welcome To The Darkroom' on E-Beamz is a suitably sludgy acid cut with murky drums cutting through the miasma.

The name Textasy comes from his favourite Texan hardcore rave record by Nasa Project, on 1992's 'High Friends In Places' EP. But it also has a satisfying synergy with Dallas's Starck Club, known as one of the first dance spots in the US to embrace ecstasy use in the mid 1980s, prior to its being made illegal.

The LP is slated to drop on March 23 via Boidae and his own Planet Phuture label, but ahead of that we debuted the booming breakbeats of "Shadow Deception" on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.
