The rain came down the spine
Clad in garter belts
It beaded up,
Wore my varnish down,
And showed me frugal Love
This house – a ribcage 
sealed by polyurethane
Rain’s beating on my chimney
My Love trickled down the drain

And every drop I’d feel
Warmth crept across the couch
The fireplace spat up its guts
So I ran out the house

I suppose I got used to hollow bones
Sometimes I miss those marrow tones
Them rafter beams been rotting away
