Northern Sky is a Detroit/London-based collaborative formed in 2021, crafting ethereal music that blends dreamy soundscapes with cinematic depth. Their music strikes a delicate balance between melody, emotion, and magic, influenced by timeless artists like Nick Drake and Norah Jones, as well as modern acts such as Beach House and The National.

At the heart of Northern Sky is Rose White, whose voice, like a soft breeze at twilight, guides the band’s sound with transcendent beauty. Supported by Eric Stajda, Dan Kendall, Steve Baker, and Andrea Di Fiore—who weave intricate layers of guitar, bass, drums, piano, synth, cello, and violin—the band creates soundscapes that are both fragile and infinite.

Northern Sky’s songs are vignettes, like postcards from distant places, carrying echoes of fleeting yet eternal memories. Tracks like "Paper Flowers," "Swimming in the Rain," and "Aurora" explore love, loss, and the bittersweet passage of time. Marol is a musician, producer and songwriter born in 1982 in a small village in northern Sweden.

He started playing guitar at the age of eight, learning mostly through family rather than formal lessons. Music quickly became a space for curiosity and experimentation. At ten, he received an Amiga 1200 and discovered a simple music program that allowed him to create tracks using samples. From there, his world expanded.

Early influences ranged from Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails to reggae and pop acts like Ace of Base. Recording ideas on cassette tape, Marol began shaping his own sound long before finding a studio. Piano and synthesizers were always close by — his grandparents’ piano and a cousin’s synths became playgrounds for sound and intuition.

In the 1990s, with access to workstations and software like Cubase and Logic, he focused heavily on electronic music. At 21, his track Northern Lights was played on local radio — a quiet milestone that encouraged him to keep going.

Later, his path crossed with musicians from the grindcore and metal scene. Electronic elements met heavy guitars and guttural vocals, forming the band Zophrania, where contrasts became collaboration. When the band dissolved, Marol moved to Norway, set up a home studio, and continued creating independently.

Between 2020 and 2022, new technology opened a simpler, more direct workflow. It allowed him to work closer to instinct — faster, freer, and more aligned with his ideas and emotions. His music remained his own, but without the need to slow down or compromise the creative process.

Today, Marol’s work is fluid and exploratory. He moves between genres without attachment, always experimenting, always in motion. Music is deeply personal to him — he only produces what feels honest and real in the moment.

Recently relocating to Vienna, what began as a short visit turned into a new chapter. The city sparked fresh inspiration, and he decided to stay. Alongside music, Marol now also creates music videos, a long-standing passion that has found new life.

Project Laboratory Music was created in 2016 by  Kraig Zubrunnen and Robert Surratt 8 years after the formation of Wreckless Drug Crew the original Rap Duo Dreadlocks & K-Money.

As a guitar player, bass player and singer I had the privilege of being in a few bands growing up.   When I wasn't writing songs or playing music with a band I was listening to my favorite artists. The last official live performance I played was at the Flamingo Cantina on Sixth Street in Austin Texas around 1997-98. Not long after that we recorded our first album on an analog four track cassette deck recording console. I Loved the process and continue to record.

Got my first DAW in 2009 it was made by Acoustica Mixcraft, easy to learn and affordable. Within a year i had produced my first electronic music project. A full length album titled "Wreckless" released and distributed locally on CD in 2010.

My next project as a producer would be a three song EP in late 2016 followed by the full length album titled Drug War Casualties published by Project Laboratory and Officially released worldwide on SoundCloud in late 2016. 

My goal as an electronic music composer is to create songs that sound as human as possible. I spend countless hours experimenting with new and innovative ways to put what I feel into the music I make. Thank you for your support and most of all for making music for me to listen to and enjoy.
