A few people recently have asked me to do more mixes or set up a podcast. So I'v decided to start my own mix series called 'Consequence Of Society' (also the name of my new release series with Noir Music). These mixes will be free to download from here and will include tracks I'm enjoying at that moment in time along with some of my own productions. You may or may not hear me play some of these tracks out in my live sets.

As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

So the prolific Third Son (aka Joe Price) is back on Selador and not before time too! His second release for the label following last year’s widely acclaimed ’Darker Side Of The Moon’ EP consists of two original productions in ‘Trigonal’ and ‘Grey Matter’, both of which are big statements in their own right. 

The former is a syncopated slice of main room action, all growling synths and soaring arp dynamics whilst ‘Grey Matter’ manages to take the concept one step further still. Yet another peak time bullet. 

The release is then consolidated by outstanding contributions from both D-Nox & Beckers and Kris Davis on remix duties. The German duo return the favour (after Third Son’s work on their own recent Selador outing) with a typically assured melodic adventure. Kris meanwhile, dons his Techno trousers for a lesson in ultra cool electronic precision. Serious heads down business. 

This my friends, is a bone fide, beach body ready, summer essential.

The second track is ‘Orbital’ from Moonwalk, a Neapolitan duo who have previously released on Still Vor Talent, Get Physical, Knee Deep In Sound and more. A thudding bassline underpins waves of synth arpeggios, before an atmospheric breakdown provides the focal point of the track.

Duo Lane is a Amsterdam-based musical partnership Jordan and Thomas with a love for deep, hypnotic and melodic techno. They are inspired by artists like Tale of Us, Adriatique, Einmusik, Hidden Empire
 and Stephan Bodzin. In the last few years they made a footprint in the Amsterdam nightlife by playing for 
organisations like Techno Tribe, Dusk, Technic Fabrique, Excess the movement and started their own event called Xplore.

In collaboration with Vision 3 Records they now bring out their first release titled “Alchemy EP”. The 5 original tracks

If anyone tells you that the chilled out, loungey sound is not their cup of tea, they’re either lying or haven’t listened to Buddy Love. Specialising in the cozier side of house music, Buddy Love’s productions are ripe with lush and hazy tones that evoke lazy beachside afternoons. Since he stole our hearts with his debut Mango Peach LP on Coastal Haze in 2016, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the next instalment from the enigmatic Londoner. 

As the saying goes, good things come in threes - we’re dead excited to be given an interview, a mix, and a hot new EP from Buddy Love this month. Ahead of his forthcoming release on Coastal Haze ‘Sorry That I’m Drifting’ (dropping September 21), we caught up with the man in question for our MIXED BY/ series.

We’ve been showered with big names premiere lately at Bolting Bits, and while we appreciate all this heat sometimes a bit of fresh air is more than welcome.
Meet Sean Thomas, producer of the fourth release on the Australian label OTIS, back at it after having released Otis001. We’ll advise that you keep them all on your radars.

Hate it or love it summer is almost done, beach parties with a prosseco in your hand is always a great thing but we at BT think it’s time to bring the intensity, the urgency, of partying back up a notch. We miss the sweat dropping from the ceiling in the haze of it all. Let’s go deep.

The ep opens with Crew Cut, a steamy cut of deep house. Airy hi-hats and a high pitched string supplement a loopy bassline, timeless chord pattern and a pounding kick. With the occasional vocal one-shot the track feels instantly recognizable in its influences while retaining a strong identity.

Following is ITXC, the track we are proud of premiering today. Enter the dance softly thanks to looping and dubbed pads with a subby bassline smelling strong of early drum n bass, not unlike previous releases on the label. Surprisingly enough the track follows up with a straight kick movement although there are some trace of breaking drums lurking in the background. Is it a set opener or closer? Maybe it’s perfect for the rush hour at peak time? It seems to us that this track will make its impact whenever you play it and that’s possibly its biggest quality. Plus there’s a reference to « that » bird sample... Who doesn’t love a bit of meta-quoting?

B-side opens with Being, taking a similar approach to the aforementioned IXTC while going more to the leftfield part of the spectrum. A gorgeous track meant for special moments.

Enhancing this recipe, the closing track Actuall explores more techy and minimalist territories for a subtle introspective journey. It feels like floating on a cloud and should mark a strong impression with the right soundsystem.

Myles and Olivia are joined by their coworker Nazuk to talk about the song's viral dance challenge, where it ranks in Drake's catalogue, and the song's legacy. Later they break down more Songs of the Summer that they loved and what songs they wished could've taken the title.

PREMIERE: Satoshi Tomiie — Protodigma (Original Mix) [My Favorite Robot Records]

A year after ‘Together / That’s Right’, long-time friends and sonic sparring partners Steve Bug and Cle return to Rejected with two more statements of timeless intent that tap into the classic foundations of true techno story telling.

Long builds, emotional chords, layers and narrative twists are the devils in the detail as the pair present another couple of ageless hypnotic trips: The craftily titled ‘Tweaky Blinders’ takes the lead with its sombre one stroke chords whispering over the robust kicks and salubrious subs while the wily acid flurries between the spaces. Stately, immersive and coded with sentiment; drop it and watch the crowd march in unison.

The equally wryly titled ‘Bark Side Of The Moog’ follows suit. Once again there’s a solemn air to the chords as they sway with pensive poignancy. This time the drum arrangement is much more full frontal and unavoidable. Rolling with a sense of momentum that’s almost mid 90s prog in its energy, shine and behaviour, yet again Steve and Cle have nailed the timeless feel. Hopefully this will become an annual thing and they’ll return to Rejected for another round this time next year….

Damian has been one of our favorite DJs and a constant inspiration for us over the years. He’s the only person we’ve given a 4 hour set to and he turned it into something that went down in history alongside the best sets we’ve ever seen at the fest.

Frankyeffe has been making quite a bit of noise lately, with top-notch releases on labels from Filth On Acid and Terminal M to Mau5trap.  The Italian’s talent is undeniable, as his work shows a deep understanding of how to make hard-driving techno grooves juxtapose captivating melodies with ease.  This skill comes to a head on his debut solo EP for Yoshitoshi, Eterea.

The EP’s A-side takes dancers on a 10-minute journey through dark sonic depths populated with massive kick drums and epic percussion, right up through finely delicate sections of melodic bliss.  The track explores a wide variety of intense emotion throughout its epic duration, making “Eterea” a unique tool for DJ’s who like to pepper darker sets with divine moments of beauty.  On the flip side, we have “Red Giant,” which continues the EP’s theme of light versus dark, shifting effortlessly from minor to major tonalities throughout.  Its swirling synth lines give the track a bubblier quality than its predecessor, but it too will find a happy home in the sets of the adventurous techno DJ.

As if the two originals weren’t enough, we’re honored to welcome Nice native Nicolas Masseyeff to the label, a producer we’ve had our eyes on for some time.  The French veteran cooked up a very special version of “Red Giant” that deconstructs the original’s chirpy synth lead over a dark, rolling, and supremely catchy groove.  Nicolas’s addition to the EP rounds it out nicely with something that will work well in both techno and tech house sets.

Our new Blitz LIVE series is about to take off! As the name suggests, we’ll publish some live recordings from the club from now on. For he first edition, we’ve selected the unforgettable All Night Long by our good friend Seth Troxler from September 7th. As expected from Seth, the mix is a wonderful up and down in between House, Techno and Disco. All of this mixed with his unique way of taking risks and experimenting. It just can’t get any better. Check out the mix from now on on our SoundCloud. Just the best goosebumps and memories coming up when listening to the recording. We just can’t wait for Seth’s next time!

We’re back again with another SUM package, and this release sees us stepping into our third year of churning out cuts from a variety of names spanning fresh faces to established artists.
SUM 5 kicks off with newcomer ALO’s fierce ‘Return’ where chaos crescendos over an unrelenting bass line before Christopher Lawrenz delivers a wild groover with enough energy to blow the roof off any club with his cut ‘ASIN’. Heavy hitter and man of the hour Eats Everything steps up next and provides another rave anthem on ‘Rollathonic’ before Housemeister’s ‘Am Puls der Zeit’ takes matters into deeper and more dramatic territories with shimmering synthesizers and lush harmonics which couldn’t be farther from JNO’s ‘Generation ID’ which focuses on heavy, fast paced percussion to take the club to the next level. Diving into more sinister territories, Klangkuenstler’s ‘Continuum’ is an intense ride not for the faint of heart whereas Lerio Corrado’s ‘Parabellum’ keeps the tough edge but balances it expertly with just the right amount of debauchery. Martin Eyerer follows suit with a chaotic, yet insanely euphoric blinder with ‘Mineral’ before Niereich & Linus Quick deliver a massive tune with the perfect Rave throwback vibe on ‘Secrets’. Next to last is the gorgeous, energetic and instantly unforgettable ‘Long Awaited Dawn’ from Paride Saraceni before Ryan McKay’s pulse pounding ‘Acid Control’ wraps up SUM 5 with a bang.
