Founded in 2020 Future Avenue is an electronic music imprint which operates under the Sound Avenue umbrella. Sitting alongside fellow subdivisions 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds, Future Avenue looks to provide a home for new and rising talent. With an ethos centred around progressive music and its surrounding derivatives, the label is a platform which gives up and coming artists a chance to showcase their music alongside established veterans as they carve out their own musical identity.

Lucas Romagnoli - Please Don't Stop Loving Me [Future Avenue]

Namatjira has just come off an appearance on the impressive Perspectives Digital ADE Sampler. The Dutch producer has been rising steadily and his contemporary blend of deep grooves and rich musicality is sounding better with each successive outing. This week sees his much anticipated 'Sequoia' single for '3rd Avenue' getting its release with remixes from: Levente and Li-Polymer.

Namatjira's deep and sultry grooves are always a pleasure and 'Sequoia' certainly stands out from the wealth of poorly produced deep progressive out there. The momentous groove is delicately hypnotic and the moderately trippy surroundings accent the framework quite nicely. As the piece begins to breakdown the windswept backdrop becomes more apparent. The wispy calm relaxes the senses before a smooth build and sonic sweep soon reveals some drifting electronics which brings the track to a very classy and exhilarating climax.

„Damage Control“ by Mironas is driven by its hypnotic piano chords and crunchy retro-futuristic bass sound - a simple yet compelling recipe that gets you moving.
Shiba San’s „Hold Me“ is like a jump-and-run through techno jungle, crossing bumpy terrains, dodging enemies, gaining momentum on accelerator patches and then free falling over the finish line.
And closing off is „Forgotten“ by Martin Herrs, who blends the gentle melodic scenery with powerful vocals and excited drums, making for a perfect end-of-season and end-of-night moment on the dance floor.

L.A-based producer Reza Safinia teams up with Ukrainian veteran The Organism on ‘Pandora's Sox', a quirky track which surprises at every turn.

Intertwined melodies first introduce the tune on a steady groove, that's brought to a hush by a husky acapella. That's where the full power of the tune is unleashed with a stripped-back drop sure to cause damage on the dancefloor.

Completing the release is a dub mix, where the trippy arpeggio is left aside in favour of a straight to the floor introductory groove. The prevalent drums of this alternate version highlights its distinctive textures and ad-libs.

Comet Records opens the month of September with a new EP from two of the label's founders in Auseeb & Rabiee Ahmad. Pakistani artist Auseeb returns following his collaboration with Gorkiz 'Macroscopic Ego'; the label's well received inaugural offering from May of this year. This auspicious debut has spearheaded what has been a memorable start for the label. Now four releases in and Comet Records has already established itself as one of 2023's best new labels, making it a potential landing spot for many artists moving forward. Continuing on this upwards trajectory, Auseeb and Rabiee Ahmad combine their extensive forces for the label's fifth offering 'Progpoganda', alongside a remix from Mindlancholic. 

Title track 'Progpoganda' lands with a resounding thump and shows just how thematic progressive music can be. With a strong exotic narrative, Auseeb & Rabiee take strong drum arrangements and mystical vocal pads through a fist act that is equal parts spiritual and groovy. The track's strong sense of cruising carries nicely into the break where tension and atmosphere rise accordingly, onwards to a percussive fuelled finale. The companion piece 'Prodigy' follows and only builds on the duo's strong creative synergy. A touch more hypnotic than its predecessor, but with an equally impressive array of drum and textural elements, this is not only a great complementary track but one that could fare well in a variety of longer sets, particularly in the morning hours. 

The release concludes with Mindlancholic making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Progpoganda'. Although just a year into his production career, Peruvian born, Spain based artist Mindlancholic has already racked up an impressive resume with projects for Droid9, For Senses, Massive Harmony Records, Univack and more. Now embarking on his first project for Comet, the Barcelona resident takes 'Progpoganda' into melodic territory. The vibe and cadence from the original is well maintained here with similarly strong drum arrangements, along with an evolving atmospheric presence, but it's the addition of a strong melodic lead which makes this ideal for peak hour play and ultimately closes the release out on an epic note. Comet Records has found its footing quickly and with a release like this we see just how strong the Pakistani progressive scene can be. Highly recommended.

Presenting their third release of the year, roku welcomes Blanka Barbara to the label for her debut EP. Born in Poland but now based in London, Blanka Barbara first emerged in 2020 with a series of releases via her Rabbit Records imprint. Quickly catching the attention of the progressive house and melodic techno communities, the next two years would see the classically trained pianist and composer go on to record projects for Lane 8's This Never Happened, Ziger's Eat My Hat Music, John OO Fleming's Joof Aura, Mango Alley and Proton's Particles. With 2023 projects for Juicebox Music and Balkan Connection already in the books, Blanka now adds roku to her resume with 'Ever Closer', alongside remixes from Danny Lloyd and Bondarev. 

The release concludes with Bondarev making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Descending Into Heaven'. Russian artist Bondarev has been a DJ for the better part of two decades, sharing the stage with some of progressive music's most iconic names, while operating as the booking manager for Saint Petersburg's famed WARPP Club. As a producer, Bondarev first emerged in 2017 with a release via Crossings, a project which would lead to key discography credits courtesy of aboriginal, Mango Alley, Proton's Particles and most recently via WARPP's label, where he operates as the AandR. Now, presenting his first remix of 2023, Bondarev debuts on roku with a powerful take on 'Descending Into Heaven'. Buoyant and energetic across the first movement, Bondarev continues his stylized ways with rippling grooves, flashing percussion and dark stabs creating a prophetic path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in an emotive yet thought provoking space; childlike motifs and sweeping harmonies converge, rising out of calming atmospheres as the interlude evolves, eventually giving way to a thunderous drop and energetic final movement.

Juicebox Music's 67th release sees Andrés Moris making his label debut with an iconic 2-track EP featuring "The Story We Tell" and "The Choice. The Córdoba (Argentina) based artist started his journey at the young age of 16, DJ'ing over the next few years before jumping into the art of representing his own style and sound through production. Being a self-taught producer, Andrés worked towards obtaining a quality and standard with his music, eventually landing up with his inaugural release in 2020. Now, he boasts a discography that includes releases on Antrim's 'Or Two Strangers', Tash's 'Movement' and more recently GMJ and Matter's 'Meanwhile' and Hernan Cattaneo's 'Sudbeat'. Andres Moris' latest offering is an EP that's close to his heart. Both "The Story We Tell" and "The Choice" are true representations of his love of emotional soundscapes and groove-focused rhythms. Memorable, modern yet nostalgic.

Presenting their first ever collaboration, Saintbull and Guuse debut on Musique de Lune's Noire division with 'Looking For The Rain'. Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of September by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for a new EP. Born in Armenia but now calling Los Angeles home, Ruben Karapetyan has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. Following a ten-year hiatus, Ruben returned in 2020 to a rousing response via releases courtesy of Movement Recordings. On the strength of his first two singles for the label 'Gignesthai' and 'Hathor', Ruben quickly emerged as a hyped talent in the trend-driven state of progressive house. Releases via Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Univack and more would soon follow, further establishing Ruben as a top tier talent and in demand remixer. Now, following a contribution to The Soundgarden's 'Summer Collection', Ruben returns to his initial home of Movement Recordings with 'Live In The Moment', alongside remixes from Michael Hooker and Dowden.

Destined to be a highlight in Ruben's discography, 'Live In The Moment' lands in impressive fashion and once again shows his craft must be taken to heart. Perfectly sculpted grooves and billowing stabs start the journey on a darker monochrome, before hopeful vocal fragments and emerging atmospheres shift the tone into one of optimism. Ruben's confident club energy continues to grow leading into the break, as emerging melodies reveal a glowing interlude where a dreamlike elegance takes shape. Timely vocals swell and intensify across the poignant centrepiece, elegantly peaking against a backdrop of wailing synths and clustered drums, before getting washed away as one final rush unleashes a groove-centric finale. The companion piece 'Mindful Harmony' follows in equally impressive fashion with galloping beats and grooves setting the course for dubbed out tones and lively percussive arrangements. Orbiting effects add depth and space leading into the break, where deconstructed vocals and creamy melodies create an air of anticipation and emotion, onwards to a thumping conclusion.
