The final Movement Recordings release of 2021 finds Jorgio Kioris returning to the label for a new single. The Greek artist has been a fixture of the progressive music scene for the better part of a decade. Since first emerging in 2013, the Kavala resident and Bloque Festival founder has showcased his music via the underground's premiere imprints, most notably Clubsonica Records, Juicebox Music, Or Two Strangers and Replug. Also, a contributor to Movement, Jorgio made his label debut in 2018 with the well-received 'Linda', before going on to remix Emi Galvan's 'Wake Up' later that same year. Now as we put a stamp on 2021, Jorgio returns to Movement Recordings with the much anticipated 'Marylinn', alongside a remix from Petar Dundov.

Noted for his keen dance floor vision, Jorgio crafts one of his most memorable productions to date in 'Marylinn'. Deep and powerful, its warm foundation is full of contour and character, while sweeping effects and pulsating rhythms build tension as the narrative takes shape. Neatly manicured percussion comes in waves, expertly layered as a colourful arp drops and momentum builds towards the break. Spanning over a minute in length, the rhythmic interlude provides a unique contrast of meditative qualities and dramatic overtones, gently elevating mood as flurries of drums reach a triumphant apex, summoning the groove for a heads down finale.

Returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of 'Marylinn' is Petar Dundov. With a career that spans well over two decades, the Croatian artist is one of electronic music's most storied producers. Often cited for his distinctive sound, the Zagreb resident makes intelligent electronic music that breaks boundaries, moves feet and twists minds. His inimitable style is marked with timeless qualities and has long been a favourite of legendary DJs John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Sven Vath. Having made his label debut in 2017 with a remix of 'Eve' by Stas Drive and Tash, Petar now makes a welcome return with a timeless rendition of 'Marylinn'. Staying true to the tone of the original, Petar goes deeper and more emotive across a magical eight-minute journey. Whimsical arps blanket a billowing groove as wispy effects and feathered percussion add colour and drive. Melting down into the main break, arpeggiated rhythms fragment over warm bass swells, building anticipation before reassembling for a stripped back drop and groovy finale. Concise in execution and timeless in delivery, it rounds out an excellent label return for both Jorgio and Petar, capping off an excellent 2021 for Tash's Movement Recordings. Highly recommended.

Eat My Hat Music closes out a successful year with a much-anticipated new single from label boss Ziger. Throughout 2021 the Greek artist has flexed his collaborative powers, pairing with Mind Conspiracy, Nosh and SJ and VangArt for an unprecedented string of releases via his Eat My Hat imprint, while notable solo projects landed courtesy of Movement Recordings and Progressive Dreamers. Looking to notch one final production credit to close out the year, Ziger returns to his comfortable home of Eat My Hat with 'Sky Is The Limit', alongside remixes from Mind Conspiracy and Nomas.

Continuing to stretch his creative wings, Ziger's vocal led 'Sky Is The Limit' goes down as one of his most bold productions to date. Rhythmically charged, its pulsating cadence, striking stabs and fiery percussion set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Ethereal wails and effervescent effects rise as the first act takes shape, accented beautifully with emerging tonal tension and sweeping noise. Clocking in at over a minute in length, the main break shifts the narrative with a broken beat framework providing the foundation for emotive vocal phrasing and trance inducing synths to unite in a colourful crescendo and exhilarating finale.

Returning to Eat My Hat and providing the first interpretation is label stalwart Mind Conspiracy. Since making his label debut in March of 2020, the Greek artist has quickly called Eat My Hat his primary home, notching two collaborations with Ziger and five remix productions across the next two years. Now continuing to build a bond with the label, Mind Conspiracy returns with a rousing rendition of 'Sky Is The Limit'. Opting for a sleeker, more techno inspired approach, the Greek artist focuses on a strong effects narrative and meditative drive, resulting in a great complement to the original. Energetic and mysterious in all the right ways, dubbed out vocals move through a forest of colourful sonics as the main break begins to take shape. Opening further, the vocal takes centrestage, relaying its emotional message as trance inducing synths provide a bridge into a driving finale.

The release concludes with Nomas returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Sky Is The Limit'. Niccoló Nicoli aka Nomas was born in Italy but now calls Germany home where he has been crafting his own unique brand of progressive techno. With a lean towards the astral spectrum of the genre, Niccolo cites Tale Of Us as one of the influences for his hypnotic and well textured sound. Having made his Eat My Hat debut in August of 2020 with the well-received 'Awakenings' single, Nomas now makes a welcome return with a spirited take on 'Sky Is The Limit'. A DJ friendly intro takes shape with punchy beats and a rolling groove providing the perfect balance of warmth and drive. Electric pulses and fragmented vocals layer the fluid framework, as astral effects and emotive chord changes steal the air. The narrative shifts across the main break with aquatic arps fading in and out of coherence, creating an air of anticipation onwards to a kaleidoscopic conclusion. An inspired remix from Nomas which caps off an excellent single from Ziger and Eat My Hat, one which seals what has been a memorable year for the rising Greek imprint. Highly recommended.

Presenting their final release of 2021, Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Sinan Arsan to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Turkey, Sinan first emerged as a producer in 2019 with a release on Stellar Fountain's Black division, before going on to land projects via Droid9 South America, Future Avenue and Soundteller Records across 2020. 2021 proved to be a breakout year for the Ankara resident, his trippy progressive sound earned recognition from some of the genre's premiere tastemakers, while earning a place on longstanding imprints such as Droid9 and Mango Alley. Now ending the year in style, Sinan adds Dopamine White to his resume with a three-track showcase entitled 'Eloquence'.

Sinan's career momentum continues to rise with the dark yet emotive sounds of the title selection. Played out over nine minutes, its character-rich groove and hypnotic rhythms set the foundation for an evolving musical narrative. Pixie-like fragments come in waves across the first act, playing off layers of driving percussion, while timely drops and sweeping effects carry into the main break. Stripping down to a cavernous ambience, the interlude builds anticipation as colourful arps and glowing atmospheres unite for a classy crescendo and heartfelt finale.

The EP moves forward with the deep, chugging vibes of 'Lagniappe'. Undeniably progressive, its robust bassline, squelchy stabs and gaseous effects make for anticipatory beginnings. Rolling percussion adds swing to the framework, while clustered melodies play off the well carved low end, as a smooth atmospheric rise initiates the break. Furthering its mystical leanings, the main motifs trail across the centrepiece, creating a trippy yet rhythmic sonic landscape, perfectly setting the stage for a smooth build and heads down final act.

The third and final selection 'Demure' continues the EP's mesmerizing melodic storyboarding. Deep and fluid throughout, Sinan's organic designs are mysterious yet emotive, tactfully merging for a momentous mindset-style groover. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, the main break adds colour through arpeggiated phrasing, gently building anticipation onwards to a goosebump worthy finale. It rounds out a stunning collection of music from Sinan Arsan who closes out 2021 with his best EP of the year, making for a memorable Dopamine White debut. Don't miss it.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White opens the month of September by welcoming Stereo Munk and Dublew to the label for their debut single. Based in Pakistan, Stereo Munk and Dublew have been frequent collaborators for the better part of five years. Often finding a creative balance between progressive and organic house, the duo has taken their superlative sound to well established imprints such as 3rd Avenue, Mango Alley and Movement Recordings, while earning support from genre trendsetter Hernan Cattaneo. Continuing to deliver fresh music across 2023, Dublew & Stereo Munk now add Dopamine White to their resume with ‘Ballad Of A Distant Star', alongside remixes from Dark Soul Project and Maze 28.

Beginning with the Original mix Dublew & Stereo Munk masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular progressive minded vision. Warm punchy beats and a spacious groove set the foundation for a narrative of metallic fragments, cosmic effects and heartfelt harmonics. Pushing a melodic mood into the break; the duo marries glowing pads with balmy synth phrasing, building emotion with each successive pass, as orbiting effects tease the senses, before eventually giving way to a thumping drop and smooth meditative finale.

Making his label debut with the first interpretation of ‘Ballad Of A Distant Star' is Dark Soul Project. With a career that spans well over a decade Argentinean artist Dark Soul Project has remained a fixture of the progressive house underground, showcasing his groovy percussive sound via Balkan Connection, Proton Music and Sound Avenue, while world class DJs John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Laurant Garnier, Nick Warren and Sasha have all been supporters of his work. Having appeared on label affiliate Dopamine Music on two previous occasions, Dark Soul Project now debuts on the label's ‘White' subsidiary with a stellar rendition of ‘Ballad Of A Distant Star'. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Argentinean artist crafts a version aimed squarely at the dancefloor, one where redolent themes, fragmented vocals and symphonic chord stabs blanket a beefed up groove and flashing percussive arrangements. Coming to full fruition across the main break, it's a bucolic college of texture, effects and deconstructed vocals which serves to elevate mood onwards to a supremely rhythmic conclusion.

Hailing from Albania, Mario Zefi aka Maze 28 has emerged as one of his country's most hotly tipped new progressive house artists. Now, fresh off a contribution to Juicebox Music's popular ‘Fables' collection, Maze 28 adds Dopamine White to his resume with an exhilarating take on ‘Ballad Of A Distant Star'. Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music welcomes Yashar to the label for his debut EP entitled ‘Aphrodite'. Hailing from Tehran, the Iranian artist first appeared on the progressive music scene in 2018 with a string of releases on Smart Phenomena Records. The following two years then yielded well received projects for Clinique Recordings and Specific Music. Now following an EP for Superordinate Music to begin 2020, Yashar steps up to Dopamine White for his debut artist showcase.

Spread across four tracks it's the tough yet melodic mood of the title selection which leads the release off. Punchy beats and rolling bass unite for a powerful low end, while spacey effects and fiery percussion add mightily to its electric nature. Crunchy and dramatic, astral arps take the narrative into a tense break, melting down to emotive overlays before a tasteful rise cues a powerful drop. ‘Hestia' follows suit with it's chunky grooves and pensive atmosphere. Robust rhythms carry the rolling foundation while clattering percussion and wispy effects sweep across the stereo field. Once again drama and tension continue to rise, as a well-crafted break and poignant tonal theme reset the groove for a cosmic finale.

The groovy ethos of the EP continues with the third selection ‘Iliad'. It's bulbous kick and charged underbelly provide a perfect balance of bounce and drive. Muted tones and hazy textures create a surreal environment as the first act evolves, before coming to full fruition during a dreamy break and heady finale. The release concludes with ‘Mandinga' which follows a similar sonic profile but with a greater techno sensibility. Once again it's a tough and foreboding underbelly which lays the groundwork for compelling musical concepts. Dreamy and esoteric in equal measure, timely fragments and piercing stabs dominate an intense break, before ushering in a rousing finale. Perhaps the largest track on the EP, it caps off an impressive Dopamine White debut for Yashar.
