'We are happy to announce a new EP of Berlin duo YEAH BUT NO - THE SHADOW SELF Pt. I.  After a longer break something new is born. The newly assembled band has a declared aim: to allow its listeners a deeper understanding of music. The multilayered sound savours the melancholic spectrum; deeper and darker tones set the perfect stage for profound lyrics.

"Electronic music is our background.", Fabian says. Alex: "We linked classic song structures with distinctive, immersive sounds that open up a world for Fabian’s lyrics.“ The lyrics perfectly capture these fragile, dark emotions that move us unconsciously - may it be the loss of love, disappointment or an unhealthy, dark obsession.

The original versions of 'Perished' and 'Curse' are accompanied by remix versions from no one less than Trikk and Mathias Schober.
 
The internationally acclaimed producer and DJ Trikk - not only known for his work with Dixon & Âme’s Innervisions label, but also as a representative of the next generation of underground house music - hits the nail on the head with his interpretation of „Perished“. Keeping the melancholic mood of the original, he managed to create a super catchy and grooving 4-to-the-floor version. The remix is already being hyped since its first plays on DJ’s sets from Dixon, Mind Against, Denis Horvat, Agoria, Adriatique, Alex Niggemann & Trikk himself.

Mathias Schober is an artist with an exceptional sense of clarity and presence in his work. His reworks of 'Curse' lay the focus on the vocal and create a stripped back, spacious and dub influenced fundamental. The instrumentation eerie enough to accompany the lyrics, the groove strong enough to work on its own.
The album "The Shadow Self“ is released in several parts on DISTANT ECHOS - a new label that defines itself as a bastion of quality and a broad musical variety with leanings towards Electronica and Neo Pop. The label kicked off their journey with the debut EP from Maltese Duo KNTRL “JUST WORDS“, which was released on the 6th of August.'

Kyiv-based DJ and producer Onen started his career relatively recently, in the fall of 2021, but has already managed to be featured on such notable labels as Siona Records, Area Verde, Almar, La Mishka, and UNCLES MUSIC. Having opted for a dark progressive and melodic sound, Onen sticks to and improves his style with each release, and we are happy to be part of a new step in his career with the release "Atlantida", which includes two tracks steeped in deep atmospheric vibe and bright oriental motifs.

Balkan Connection begins the fall season in grand fashion with a huge collaboration from Space Motion and Siguiente Tecnologia. Hailing from Serbia and Japan respectively this is not a first time collaboration from the duo having previously appeared on Timeless Moment, MNL and One Of A Kind. As one of 2018’s most hyped production duos, Space Motion and Siguiente Tecnologia now debut on Balkan Connection with ‘Transition’.

Spread across three tracks the duos fresh take on progressive music continues to evolve with some of their most accomplished work to date. Beginning with the vibrant title track ‘Transition’, Space Motion and Siguiente Tecnologia take us on a buoyant, effervescent journey into fresh design and playful rhythms. Nicely dialled for the dance floor, it’s the main break which proves most captivating, moving through subtle shades and tones while a stirring backdrop adds just the right emotive touch to complete the track. Continuing with ‘Duty’ the tempo shifts up to an exuberant 126 BPM, while it’s evolving storyboard remains captivating across it’s eight minute running time. Complete with siren-like wails and a retro synth motif, it’s a piece that pleases both the mind and feet, perfectly segueing into the EP’s closer ‘Solicitation’. As the collection’s most techno inspired creation it definitely packs a punch. Growling synths, choppy percussion and a killer arp converge for the ultimate sonic comet. Upon stripping down into the main break the narrative shifts into twisted territory with a squelchy theme decaying to a fiery peak before the beats drop for what should be a massive club moment. It rounds out three unique and inspired tracks from Space Motion and Siguiente Tecnologia, who remain one of the progressive scenes most creative duos. Highly recommended.

About the artist
The career of this young musician started in 2003 in a pretty unimposing way. Martin did some Hip Hop and Trip Hop productions and already had some of his output played at the Austrian alternative radio scene. After a few years of engagement as a Drum&Bass producer and dj this talented musician alternated his musical style again and started to produce minimal techno. Soon the first releases followed and different labels all around the globe started to take an interest in Martins music. Today the music of this emerging artist could be categorised between Deep House and Techhouse and already acts as some kind of insiders' tip in the scene.
