Devas(Dev-is), is a lifetime DJ/Producer hailing from Los Angeles, California, with deep roots in vinyl and turntablism. He has returned to bring back that 90's jump-up sound with 2022 sound engineering. In 1998 DJ Devas from the Presha Cru released a jump-up smash hit mixtape that included heavy Hip Hop, Turntablism, and Scratching. At the time, Drum & Bass was more about straight-mixing and half-time beats, which was the perfect recipe for introducing classic 90's Hip Hop and R&B flavors into the mix. With his deep reach in the Hip Hop scene and vast vinyl collection, the glorious sound of Redline was born. 

Rewind, and fast forward to 2022 Devas releases a 25th-anniversary limited edition Redline 2 stealthy title 2REDLINE5. He represents the best qualities of DJing with back-to-back bootlegs, remixes, and mixing.
To make things more interesting Its not just another release. The new 2REDLINE5 is an animated NFT. Owners of this NFT will receive bonus items including:

this is the second mix in a series 'trust me i was there' - the music in this mix is what was getting played in the places with a more relaxed door policy (places that would let in 15-16 year olds) and on the london pirate dance radio stations in 1988.

one thing i find interesting about this year (as a producer) is the contrast between the really raw acid stuff and the super slick vocal tracks - one of which was exec produced by quincy jones no less!!

Riders Of The Plastic Groove 88.9fm KUCI - Remo 07 - 17 - 2020

Remo, a native of the South Bay area of Los Angeles, has moved dancefloors from the desert to the sea. His history in the scene begins with the early introductions to rap music during the 80’s. His passion for the sound grew deeper and deeper as his collection of cassettes and records began to replace his GI Joe’s. Fast forward to the 90’s when techno began to hit the airwaves - Remo’s ear tuned in closely and hasn’t turned back since. From thrift store clothed wearing raver to mixtape collector, DJ, and promoter - Remo has come up through the ranks of the Los Angeles underground collective. 

In 2008, he found his way into the burgeoning LA dubstep scene via Pure Filth Soundsystem boss, Sam Robson. Pure Filth’s Tuesday night sessions would give birth to dubstep in Los Angeles. Everyone from Mala to Kode 9, and local favorites from the SMOG crew, played tunes from the decks beneath the city with Sam’s thunderous stacks providing the perfectly tuned sound. With the demand for dubstep growing, Sam + crew took it to a supreme level and birthed a new party called, BASSFACE - where you would literally feel the bass in your gut! BASSFACE residents, which included Remo showcased dubstep and other bass driven music like Flylo, GLK, and visits from UK favorites. Remo caught the wave and rode it all over SoCal playing parties every weekend from 2009-2010. 

In the midst of this beautiful chaotic moment, Remo would co-host in-store events at Dr. Freeclouds Record Shoppe owned by LA rave forefather Ron D Core and wife Helen. Remo would call on his DJ family to play records from their prized collections in a family style setting with food and craft brews in hand.  

In 2016, Remo and his husband created a new event called Bears Cubs & Beards hosted at The Eagle in the heart of Silverlake - Los Angeles. Remo was the resident DJ for over 3 years when they concluded with their final event, Out Of The Woods in November 2019. Today Remo is still practicing his craft and releasing mixes throughout the year, each year on Mixcloud and Soundcloud.
