Deep Blue

My last composition of the "Rise of the Dynasty" theme.  This one includes a love theme and variations of the main theme that I created before.  I really enjoyed working with these themes a lot as I got the opportunity to use a multitude of different ethnic instruments.  This theme is very dear to my heart as it was one of the first I created out of the virtual instruments that I had to use so it's hard to let go!

Echoes Of The Soul

After watching a few chinese action movies I was inspired to compose something using Chinese instruments.  From the Dizi to the Erhu, I enjoyed each and every one of them! Enjoy!

Rise of the Dynasty Main Theme

This is a piece that I wrote for a short film about a woman who loses her husband in a car accident.

Renan Javier Cabrera is a Canadian film composer working out of Vancouver, BC.

Renan began composing on the piano ever since he was 6 years old by ear and it was only until he heard Basil Poledouris' score in "Les Miserables" where he fell in love with film score.  As he plunged deeper into the world of film music, his compositions developed and mainly paid homage to his favourites such as: Ennio Morricone, Philip Glass, Hans Zimmer, Shigeru Umebayashi and many more.  

His compositions are mainly based on having a strong melodic presence and finding ways to develop these melodies into long lasting and memorable themes.   Some of Renan's works have made it into choreography pieces, short films, short story companion pieces and notably, a charity album to raise funds for the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.
