Memories

This is my  submission to the second part of 'The Piano Clouds' (TPC) - 'Ebony and Ivory' Challenge (initiated and hosted by https://soundcloud.com/simon-reich), which involves creating a piece using only the black keys on the piano (yikes! hehe). The first part of the Challenge involved creating a piece using only the white keys ('As the Garden Grows'). This 'black keys'  piece was originally a piano solo improvisation, but I wanted to learn more and add some more FX and instrumentation, so I'm not sure what it is! The piano is still dominant for the Challenge, whilst I tried to incorporate a more 'ambient' mood. I'm now looking forward to listening to all the submissions for the Challenge, as I've only had a chance to listen to a few! :-) 

If you'd like to listen and give some feedback, especially given this approach to music is still relatively new to me, its always much appreciated :-) xx

Iliya Rashkovskiy performs Chopin's e- minor piano concerto on November 11th, 2011 at Gorzów Philharmonic concert hall. Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra under Piotr Borkowski conducting. Live recording.
Iliya Rashkovskiy that 2011 year was a 3rd prize winner of the A. Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv. Later he conquered the 1st prize at Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan.
The new, very fresh Polish orchestra, established just few months before this performance, showed great musicianship and yet maturity. The concert master for that memorable evening was Tomasz Tomaszewski - 1st concert master of Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Renan Javier Cabrera is a Canadian film composer working out of Vancouver, BC.

Renan began composing on the piano ever since he was 6 years old by ear and it was only until he heard Basil Poledouris' score in "Les Miserables" where he fell in love with film score.  As he plunged deeper into the world of film music, his compositions developed and mainly paid homage to his favourites such as: Ennio Morricone, Philip Glass, Hans Zimmer, Shigeru Umebayashi and many more.  

His compositions are mainly based on having a strong melodic presence and finding ways to develop these melodies into long lasting and memorable themes.   Some of Renan's works have made it into choreography pieces, short films, short story companion pieces and notably, a charity album to raise funds for the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.
