RENDER RECORDINGS showcases its second Various Artists compilation. RNDR005 is a showcase of unique artists in the western Canadian breaks, bass house, and techno scene. This compilation kicks off with a fresh bass house track titled “Dream Land” by Freddy J, which features the smooth lyrical flows of Rubix. We then move into some swinging, funky breakbeats with FunkinRight and his track titled “Funky Like.” Bright Idea adds to the Glitch Hop tip with his crunchy beats and glitchy textures on his track titled “Glitchin Aboot.” So So Fresh label boss, Mctwist, brings some serious heat with his booty breaks track titled “One Time Only.” AGE takes us on a journey into acid breaks and leftfield techno with his jam “Acid Therapy.” Dojo Entertainment boss, Donald Bump, uses some clever sampling and brings that G-Funk vibe on his breaks track titled “Creepin & Crawling.” SwaggaCats closes off the release with his peak time techno track “WhenUrAlone.”

Chris, originally from Sundance, Alberta, has cherished a deep love for music for as long as he can remember. His journey likely began at the age of three, listening to Elvis Presley records with his father. In 1994, he first explored DJing with a mixer and two turntables, which led to a lifelong passion for blending genres like breakbeat, house, rap, jungle, drum and bass, rock, funk, and even hardcore gabber. Over the years, his sets have resonated with audiences across Western Canada and Asia, creating moments of connection and joy through music.

From 2000 to 2003, Chris made his mark in South Korea, holding residencies at iconic venues such as Vinyl Underground (Busan), Myongwolgwan (Seoul), and NBIMB (Busan). In 2003, he relocated to Taiwan, becoming a fixture in the local music scene and performing at renowned spots including Luxy (Taipei), Liquid Lounge (Taichung), Sound Garden (Taichung), as well as outdoor festivals on Da Shan Mountain and TongXiao Beach.

In 2005, Chris returned to Canada, setting up base in Vancouver, where he became a regular performer at local venues. His international career continued to flourish, and in 2008, he embarked on a three-country tour, playing at venues like Liquid Lounge (Taiwan), Juice Bar (Philippines), Astica Lounge (Philippines), Dolce Superclub (Philippines), Club VIA (South Korea), and Vinyl Underground (South Korea).

In 2019, Chris returned to the Philippines and played an 8-hour sunset beach session at Aplaya Beach Bar on Boracay Island. His set featured a mix of downtempo, breakbeat, drum and bass, and house, complementing the relaxed atmosphere of the island.

Now back in the Sundance area, Chris is reconnecting with his roots and is eager to share his unique sound with new audiences. Stay tuned for more from "The Sundance Kid" as his musical journey continues to evolve.

Since his beginnings in 2001, Freddy J has been on a focused mission of constant development, moulding a unique style that is sure to deliver dancefloor mayhem. With twenty years as a leader of the scene, he has cemented himself as one of Canada’s premiere DJ’s.  
He never fails to bring the best bass-driven party funk possible, with a style that can be described as electro meets funky, dirty, whompy, groovy, bassline. Having headlined at a multitude of club and festival events, the experience Freddy J brings to the tables shines through and gets people moving on the dancefloor. 
2024 saw Freddy J open the Fractal Forest as part of his 14th appearance at Shambhala Music Festival, and once again he showed why he keeps getting invited back year after year... this is definitely one DJ you won’t want to miss!

Since 1999 Canadian based artist DJ McTwist has provided audiences with his renowned break beats and all things funky. With the launch of Wonder Breaks which began in 2006 on Breaks.FM radio McTwist established himself as a host and mentor to up and coming artists. He continued this path for the following 7 years with TheLostArt.com. McTwist has created a musical infrastructure built on his passion for spinning records, supporting other artists and sharing the decks with some of the greatest names in the electronic music industry. He has performed alongside headliner DJs such as: The Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, WBBL, K+Lab, Keith Mackenzie, Phibes, A.Skillz and Featurecast, to name a few.
	He demonstrates his diverse talents through his unique musical production and successful track releases; McTwist is known for his stage presence and passion for the art of DJing. His work has gained momentum and recognition since being charted on Beatport and Juno Download multiple times. This has provided McTwist with opportunities to perform at the WMC in Miami, Florida and headline at many Canadian based music festivals. This Canadian funk slangin producer has released over 23 tracks since 2019, with support from labels like Breakbeat Paradise, Render Recordings, Twists of Time, Wildfire Recordings, and B Nasty Beats. His genre jumping DJ style paved the way for multi-genre production, where he continues to push the limits and make beats outside the box.
