Spring 2018 saw Mexican artist, Hot Tuneik, debut on Proton Music with "Revival". Now returning to the EP, new remixes from esteemed producers provide a fresh new perspective.

The ‘double-headed dragon' that comprises the Lanvary production duo has seen Alex and Andrew become a major force in the electronic music scene. Diverse musical perspectives have seen the pair delight with a musical recipe that combines elements from progressive and deep house with techno flourishes in a distinct and unique sound. Over a century of production credits can be found next to the Lanvary name since an early debut for Underphunk in late 2010. Going on to see their music featured on Stellar Fountain, Mistique Music and Particles, their work for the latter has found success with a trio of original EPs in 2015's "Micromegas", 2016's "Penumbra" and 2017's "Leviathan". Lanvary's work for Proton Music is centred around the superb "Venus" in December 2017, while a pair of remixes for Matter is now followed by a wonderful reworking of "Memories". Hitting hard with dominant beat and ticking off-beat percussion, a sumptuous bass groove quickly makes its presence felt as the melodic elements of the original resonate through the Lanvary interpretation. The pulsating string motifs from Hot TuneiK's track rise and fall throughout and a host of new production material supply dynamic dance-floor credentials to keep club-goers happy with a seamless blend of rhythm and melody.

Hot TuneiK's "Revival" is complete as new remixes from Matter and Lanvary reinvent and revitalise.

A renowned talent with global support from fans and peers alike, Juan Deminicis showcased an array of skills and beautiful melodies with "Life on the Moon". Returning to the EP, new remixes find German, Brazilian and Australian stars firmly in the spotlight.

An artist with a sizeable reputation over a number of years, Christian Wedekind is a name familiar to the underground community with his D-Nox soubriquet. A global DJ phenomenon with performances across his German home from the 1990s onwards and across Brazil, Japan, Mexico and Australia, his work with Beckers saw the duo thrill audiences with mesmerising sets and expertly-crafted sonic voyages. Almost 500 production credits tell their own story across some of the finest imprints that include Suara, Tronic, Bedrock and D-Nox's own, Sprout Music. Supported by a global elite that includes, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Dave Seaman, D-Nox joins forces with the multi-talented Brazilian artist, ZAC, himself a renowned DJ and producer featured on the likes of Sony Music and Universal.

Thus, the D-Nox and ZAC remix creates a strong dance-floor intensity as a fast-paced rhythm entices with rapid-fire percussion and rolling snare fills. Building effortlessly, an identity with the original emerges as the familiar melodic refrains of "Life in the Moon" bounce across a near eight-minute piece in new intriguing cadence. Full of melodic flourish at the mid-point breakdown, the driving rhythm and intelligently worked melodic groove hit the heights once again in the third movement.

The powerhouse pairing of Gavin Griffin and Matty Doyle have seen the Australian duo create a magnetic forcefield that has attracted huge support and attention since they first joined forces on the "Superposition" EP for Proton Music in May 2016. Hugely successful in their own rights with original and remix work for both Particles and the flagship imprint, June 2017's "Osmosis" and August 2018's "Interscope" EPs continued to showcase production talent of the highest order. A trio of remixes of Pete K's "Utopia", Andre Sobota's "Unmute" and Rudy's "Time" provided another window on the pair's talent in late 2016, 2017 and 2018 and it is thus a genuine pleasure to welcome them back for a fourth outing on the remix trail.

Supplying yet another moment of magic, GMJ and Matter take "Tao the King" on a sumptuous journey redolent in rolling bass groove and steam-powered white noise effects with their 'Royalty Remix'. A glittering and delayed motif appears at the start of the second movement as a swathe of new counterpoint melodic lines entwine effortlessly with original components. Hitting new heights at a rousing crescendo with pulsating intensity, the track explodes in a glorious rhythmic groove that illustrates precisely why GMJ and Matter are such sought-after producers.

Remixes from D-Nox and Zac and GMJ and Matter have developed a dynamic and vibrant "Life on the Moon".

Returning to Proton Music in October 2018, the "Audacity" EP represented Simos Tagias at his finest with two exceptional original tracks. Remixes from a Croatian superstar and Australian mainstay now continue the story.

An undisputed master of his craft, Petar Dundov has represented the underground dance scene with considerable aplomb for over 25 years. With his innovative sound design and unique sonic architecture, the Croatian has been at the vanguard of a genre-defying sound that perhaps identifies most closely to techno for Dundov himself. Melding rhythm and melody in distinctive patterns that have mesmerised global audiences at festivals such as, "I Love Techno" and "EXIT, and clubs including and Tokyo's "Womb" and Berlin's achingly cool "Berghain", work for a plethora of blue-chip imprints has appeared in tandem. Thus, Music Man, Systematic Recordings, Cocoon and Bedrock have all played host to Dundov's iconic sound.

Making his Proton Music debut, the Petar Dundov remix of the title track takes "Audacity" on a rolling groove inspired journey that pulsates gently on a wave of sumptuous pads and familiar motifs from Tagias' original. Evolving elegantly, a searing arpeggio filters into sonic range towards the mid-point before the track explodes in the second half with a huge analogue bassline and intricate percussive cadence full of clave groove. The resultant work is a glorious sonic collage of the highest order.

Gavin Griffin is an artist requiring no introduction to the Proton Music faithful. A producer whose trajectory continues to rise exponentially, his GMJ moniker has been closely linked to the Particles and Proton Music labels with a host of original music, both in solo and collaborative guises. An artist with an acute understanding of the underground music scene, a passion for his craft shines through with his "deep emotive electronic music". Indeed, some 300 production credits feature the GMJ name as his work continues to feed the catalogues of such celebrated imprints as Balkan Connection, Open Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat.

A regular on Proton Music with several original EPs alongside fellow Australian, Matter, and a collaboration with iconic Hungarian producer, East Café, October 2017's "Sovereign Reality" saw GMJ make his solo debut with an EP of ambitious scope and immaculate production. Now returning after remixes of Dousk and Nocturna, the GMJ remix of "Elaza" epitomises GMJ's attention to detail as an immaculately polished rhythmic foundation plays host to an array of rich, haunting melodies. Signature motifs from Tagias' original make their presence felt in the second half as they blend seamlessly with GMJ's additional production material – the result is an interpretation that sees the Australian at the top of his artistic endeavours.

Few producers can match the meteoric rise of Kastis Torrau and as the Lithuanian producer returns to Proton Music, “Route 88” opens up with remixes from Belarusian and Dutch stars.

An artist with a 24-carat reputation plus skills and technique to match, Kastis Torrau has been at the cutting edge of underground dance music since he burst onto the scene with Donatello and Arnas D in 2011 – triumphant in the Sasha remix competition for “Cut Me Down”. A subsequent appearance on Last Night On Earth rubber-stamped Torrau’s global status as ‘rising star’, while a string of productions found their way on to Einmusika, Hope Recordings and Black Hole. A regular on Proton Music since August 2014, “Genesis” in collaboration with fellow countryman, Donatello, saw subsequent A-list remixes from Barry Jamieson and Darin Epsilon. Now returning, “Route 88” is characterised by a typically bristling bassline that drives the track relentlessly forward, wrapped around an immaculate and crisp rhythmic shell. Sublime melodic flourishes ripple across the stereo spectrum, building in the breakdown to introduce an exquisite counterpoint phrase before rhythm and bass hit hard again in the third movement.

A true star across his Belarusian home and far beyond its borders, Dmitry Molosh has seen his career skyrocket with his performances across Europe and South America in August 2019. Seeing his music feature on such illustrious labels as Replug, Sudbeat and Plattenbank, supported by such household names as Nick Warren, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo, he featured on Particles with both original and remix production work in 2014 and ’15. Making his Proton Music debut and reinventing Kastis Torrau, the Dmitry Molosh remix opens with a chest-thumping kick before reprising the bassline so central the original. Before long, a swathe of new production material appears that introduces new melodic structures and phrases that reach their zenith at the breakdown with beautiful piano notes and sumptuous pad textures. Hitting its stride in the third movement, all elements combine to create a wonderful new “Route 88”.

Always in demand with their imaginative work for the likes of EIN2, Traum and Mango Alley, Huminal’s relationship with Particles and Proton Music has seen the Dutch duo feature with a host of original music. After a debut remixing Nikko.Z in June 2015, the twin-track “Knocking on the Sky” followed before “We Dwell in the Past” arrived with a bang a year later and “Macropsia” came into view in October 2018. Always at the cutting edge of sound design, The Huminal remix is as immaculate as it is elegant with a raft of intelligent production techniques that sees “Route 88” build with trademark momentum across the seven-minute track. A filtered and gated analogue bass pattern rises and falls throughout while a gloriously produced breakdown sequence ripples with a new melodic sequence that gently pulsates. Rhythmic and melodic groove then join forces again in the second half to devastating effect.

With a beautifully smooth and powerful track, Kastis Torrau drives effortlessly along “Route 88” with remixes from Dmitry Molosh and Huminal.

For the past 7 years the Argentinian duo has worn a familiar path. Sun-drenched beats, warm melodies and devilish grooves set them apart from the crowd and releases on Selador, Hope Recordings and Balance Music cement their position among a handful of South American producers with real global appeal. 

First up is ‘Bleakness’, a sombre exploration of interconnecting melodies and textures. Tash's Movement Recordings continues a strong summer season by welcoming Alex O'Rion to the label for his debut EP.  As one of the Netherlands most highly regarded and sought-after artists, the Nijkerk resident has found favour amongst progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J, while finding a home on Sudbeat Music, Hope Recordings and Cid inc's Replug Records. Now fresh off a collaborative EP with Antrim for Roger Martinez's Higher States, Alex makes his Movement Recordings debut with 'Blue'.  Sitting firmly amongst progressive music's elite, Alex continues this wave of momentum with three more memorable pieces, beginning with 'Stripped'. Fuelled by rhythm and groove; it's well sculpted foundation, driving percussion and unpredictable tonality form the backbone of this thrilling journey. Wispy effects and emerging atmospheres smoothly segue into the main break, shifting the narrative further into esoteric territory. Sitting comfortably in an ethereal yet thought provoking space, the lead motif rises amidst a rush of drums as the beats drop for a heady finale. The second selection 'Fiend' follows suit with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Once again, a darker undertone runs through the piece, while a menacing low end, growling synths and steam-like sweeps create a foreboding air. An effervescent arp begins to bubble as the first act evolves, trailing into the break and elevating tension, before a rush of drums sparks a powerful drop. Rounding out the release in style is the title selection 'Blue' which finds Alex showcasing his remarkable combination of rhythm and groove once again. Spacious and energetic, it's a creation built around rolling bass tones and haunting atmospheres. Harmonic phrases and otherworldly effects converge as the first act unfolds, while ghostly overlays shift energy into the break. Surreal and tense in equal measure, timely modulation adds drama across the one-minute interlude, ultimately reaching a swirling crescendo as the beats fade to prominence, perfectly setting up a striking final movement. A powerful creation from Alex, capping off an inspired Movement Recordings debut for the rapidly rising Dutch artist.

Vivrant's fourth release of the year follows up Jeremy Olander's retro stomper 'Steps', and gives us a return from Khen with his groovy, melodic peak time monstrosity 'A Hero' EP. 

Since his debut on Vivrant in 2017, the Tel Aviv native has gone on to be heralded as one of the brightest shining stars on the melodic house sky. With Beatport chart-topping releases on coveted imprint in likes of John Digweed's Bedrock, Lee Burridge's TRYBESof, Sebastien Leger's Lost Miracle and UK power-house Anjunadeep, Khen's development trajectory as a producer has been nothing short of spectacular. 

'A Hero', the lead record on his sophomore project on Vivrant, his second outing on the label after fan-favorite 'Cornfields' EP from three years ago, ticks all the boxes for a future Khen classic. Intricate yet exuberant FX details, meticulously done drum work and a serene lead melody that culminates with a rambunctious drop when the suspense levels cannot possibly get any greater, are telltale signs of one of the most talented producers of his generation.

Now following a collaborative remix with Lost & Found alum Sahar Z and their latest Sudbeat offering ‘Bleakness’, Interaxxis returns to Replug with the much anticipated ‘Bowry’. 

Beginning with the title selection Interaxxis explores the darker realms of their highly regarded repertoire. Atop a tough, rolling foundation comes arpeggiated rhythms, buzzing stabs and striking percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. Effervescent effects and stream-like sweeps continue to build the narrative, ultimately setting the course for an enthralling lead melody. Tense yet cosmic, its dramatic nature elevates across the main break, flowing through expressive modulation, before an exhilarating crescendo spearheads a charged finale. 

The EP’s second and final selection finds Interaxxis collaborating with fellow countryman Guille Cornejo aka Antrim. Also a Replug alum, the Cordoba resident made his label debut in 2019 with the well received ‘Trip To Red’. As a long-time favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, Guille also boasts an impressive resume, highlighted by releases on Sudbeat Music, Hope Recordings and his own Or Two Strangers imprint. Now coming together for their first ever joint production, Interaxxis and Antrim round the release out with ‘Isolation’. Its dark beginnings prove intriguing, as punchy beats, perfectly contoured bass and striking percussion unite for a robust rhythmic core. Devilish effects further it’s fiery flair, before hopeful overlays and nostalgic chord changes shift the mood into emotive territory. Building through an array of impressive artefacts, the centrepiece captivates with a rare unpredictably, before eventually accelerating to a tasteful crescendo and effects laden drop. It rounds out an impressive return to Replug for Interaxxis and Antrim, who continue to be two of the world’s foremost progressive music talents.

Label boss Madloch returns to 3rd Avenue with a new single entitled 'Flow State'. With the majority of the Belgian artist's output being reserved for parent label Sound Avenue, it's a rare occurrence for Madloch to land on it's more progressive minded counterpart. May of 2019 did however yield the two track 'Grindstone' EP, which found the Belgian artist focusing on the groovier, more esoteric side of the genre. Now making an unexpected return Madloch presents a new single alongside remixes from Subandrio and Beije. 

Although becoming increasingly more known for his deep, dubby productions; Madloch explores the tougher, peak time inspired side of his repertoire here. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around rhythmic drive and tension filled motifs. Piercing tones and percussive flurries steal the air as a warm, fluid groove undulates below. As the first act evolves a hook heavy acid line fades to prominence, before a wave of frayed percussion unleashes emotive chord changes and impassioned overlays. Brief but impactful, the main break pushes the sonic envelope with one final rush of noise to spark an exhilarating finale. 

The first interpretation of 'Flow State' is provided by Subandrio who makes his label debut. As one of his country's most highly regarded progressive music talents, the Sri Lankan artist has long been a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records, Beat Boutique, Balance Music and Sudbeat sit prominently in his discography, as he continues to sit amongst the movement's elite. Now following a remix for Chris Cargo, the Colombo resident debuts on 3rd Avenue with a powerful rendition of 'Flow State'. Always a creative remixer, Subandrio deconstructs the main elements into newfound themes for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, full bodied groove comes rippling bass tones, clattering drums and buzzing synths. It's a remarkable sonic marriage and one which makes for an energetic yet tense journey, feverously peaking as sizzling acid lines burn across the break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this creative gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Flow State' is Beije. The Canadian duo are no strangers to the Belgian imprint having delivered their 'Novo' EP in 2019, while a remix for Jeff Eveline's 'Crashes In Love' landed in March of this year. Also finding a home on Manual Music, Sound Avenue and Where The Heart Is, Beije's fresh take on melodic house has propelled them into one of the genre's top up and coming acts. Now making a welcome return to 3rd Avenue, the Toronto residents deliver an impassioned take on 'Flow State'. Glacial lines, ethereal vocal wails and soulful strums unite for a gorgeous blend of sound and colour. Spirited instrumentation gets teased across the break, adding a nostalgic flair before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing finale. A gorgeous remix from Beije which caps off a welcome return to 3rd Avenue for label boss Madloch.
