Scaling the heights with the soaring “Levera | Agmoli” in September 2022, Jiminy Hop continued his impressive relationship with Meanwhile. Now returning to the EP, a pair of remixes from the Australian label heads and a Dutch icon continue the story.

Revitalised after a European tour and sold-out label showcase at ADE 2023, GMJ & Matter continue to ride the crest of a tidal wave of success. Founded upon a distinctive and evergreen production sound, the duo’s music continues to make waves of its own reaching dancefloors across the world, supported by global DJ A-listers. Moreover, the duo’s output on Meanwhile has seen a raft of original work since April 2020 in the shape of three original EPs, plus remixes for Roger Martinez, Simos Tagias, Rich Curtis and Alex O’Rion. Fresh from October 2023’s “Arkeron” on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, GMJ & Matter return to their spiritual home with a typically inspiring remix of “Levera”. Anchored by a kick full of heavyweight power, a rolling groove easily filters into the sonic frame as familiar percussive tropes from the original echo across the 8-minute piece. Evolving in dark and brooding majesty, a cadenced bassline adds weight and club-friendly hypnotism before a siren-filled breakdown heralds a third movement that brings in subtle variation, arpeggiated motifs and an immaculately blended central melodic riff from Jiminy Hop’s track. The result is another 24-carat gold remix that showcases GMJ & Matter’s talent to its fullest.

An artist at the vanguard of progressive house for over 15 years, Alex O’Rion continues to find himself much in-demand. From early outings on Black Hole focusing on trance, Alex’s work for Sudbeat Music, The Soundgarden and his own newly minted Solis Records has crystallised into a sumptuous deep progressive house sound. A regular on Meanwhile with a raft of original and remix work, May 2021’s 4-track “Echium” and August 2022’s “Solis / Pluvia / Sericum” EPs have lit up the label. Following on from remixes for GMJ & Matter and Rich Curtis, Alex O’Rion now delivers a typically smooth and effervescent reworking of “Agmoli”. A chest-thumping kick and clicking top-line supply head-shaking groove as familiar refrains from the original shimmer across the mid-range pre-breakdown. Through a sublime melodic narrative, a cast of characters both old and new, showcase O’Rion’s production talents as jagged analogue synth phrases coruscate in complex patterns, interwoven with arpeggiated patterns from Jiminy Hop’s track. Full of sonic intrigue and a palette of mellifluous sequences, the remix hits glorious heights post-breakdown as the full combination of bass, rhythm and melody combine to wondrous effect.

Through a pair of new remixes Jiminy Hop’s “Levera / Agmoli” continues to sparkle in brilliant sonic colours courtesy of GMJ & Matter and Alex O’Rion.

Clubsonica Records rounds out the summer season by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for his debut EP. Born in Armenia but now calling Los Angeles home, Ruben has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. On the strength of his fresh, progressive sound Ruben quickly earned praise from the genre’s trendsetters in Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also becoming a regular in Beatport’s competitive sales charts. This resurgence also re-established Ruben’s DJ career, one which saw him share the stage with Sasha & Digweed, Sven Vath and Orbital as part of lineups at legendary events and club nights. Seemingly in constant motion, Ruben’s Clubsonica debut came in 2023 with a remix of ‘Kamikaze’ by K Loveski and Geronimo Eguiguren, a project which would be followed by a contribution to the label’s popular Sampler series later that same year. Now, Ruben returns to Clubsonica for his first artist EP ‘Neurotransmitter | Parisian Vibe’, alongside remixes from Gai Barone and Molac. 

Beginning with the cosmic qualities of ‘Neurotransmitter’, Ruben's craftsmanship reveals itself, as striking chord stabs, phasing sonics and percolating effects flicker atop punchy kick drums and chunky grooves. It's this astral collage which carves out a heady path into a brief but thought-provoking break, one which proves to be tension filled. Ethereal phrasing and swirling noise drift amidst icy synth mutations and billowing sonics for a prophetic mood, eventually giving way to a charged finale that’s nicely suited to the astute dancefloors out there. Meanwhile, the companion piece ‘Parisian Vibe’ follows suit with a similarly tough and modern progressive approach. Ruben’s elusive production chops serve him well here as he crafts a seven-minute journey that is bursting with ultrasonic qualities and a keen sense of rhythm and groove. Flowing through wavy arps and retro acid lines, the first act evolves with a veteran's savvy, eventually revealing an emotive break complete with a tasteful marriage of hopeful pads and haunting vocals, a poignant fusion of sound which is sure to leave long lasting memories on the dancefloor.

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Neurotransmitter’ is Gai Barone. With an esteemed career stretching the better part of two decades, Gai Barone has become one of electronic music’s most sought-after artists. Afterglow, Bedrock, Lost & Found, Renaissance and his own Patternized Recordings imprint have been landing spots for some of his most notable work. In a year that has already seen Gai record chart topping remixes for Dreaming Awake, RKP and Vapour Recordings, the talented Italian now returns to Clubsonica with an exhilarating take on ‘Neurotransmitter’. Taking a smooth progressive approach, Gai constructs a tight rhythmic core, complemented with punchy beats, reprocessed sonics and cascading arps. It's this colourful fusion of sound which ultimately makes for a version that is both melodic and club-effective; one that should crossover to a variety of dancefloors across the remainder of the summer season. 

The release concludes with Molac with the lone interpretation of ‘Parisian Vibe’. Based in Ecuador, Molac has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of electronic music and organic house. His resume is highlighted by releases via All Day I Dream, Songuara, The Soundgarden, Watergate and more. Now, fresh off a well-received debut on Renaissance's long-standing imprint, Molac adds Clubsonica to his resume with an inspired rendition of ‘Parisian Vibe’. Opting for a lighter, more celestial approach, Molac's colorful monochromes, hopeful atmospherics and effortless grooves make this ideal for the morning hours when emotions are at their most vulnerable, in turn adding another weapon to your arsenal.

Musique de Lune rounds out the month of October by welcoming Luke Santos back to the label for a special remix edition of 'I Am Everything'. As a DJ for well over two decades, Argentina born, Netherlands based artist Luke Santos has delighted crowds across the world with his far-reaching sound. Long-standing events such as ADE, WMC, The Love Parade and more have been recurring locations for Luke's exquisite taste and impeccable programming skills; while GU Music, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden have been global music brands to request his talents. A near decade-long career as a producer indicates his selective nature, with Cid Inc's Replug Records, Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank and Global Underground being the primary landing spots for his stunning creations. 2022 would see Luke return from a five-year hiatus via Musique de Lune Noire with the well-received album project 'I Am Everything'. A release which not only holds the distinction of being Noire's inaugural release, but received praise from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Sebastian Busto to the label with a two track artist showcase. Widely regarded for crafting the deep and  progressive spectrum's of house, the Buenos Aires resident has long been a favourite of world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. The Argentinean artist also lays claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Magician On Duty, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden. Now making his much anticipated Replug debut, Sebastian presents his ‘Workaholic' EP. 

Sebastian's ability to craft evocative musical journeys is second to none. How he incorporates emotion in subtle yet profound ways is what makes him such a unique producer, and not to mention a favourite of the underground's most prominent tastemakers. The lead track ‘Workaholic' displays that perfectly, with its warm, rolling groove and sleek, rhythmic narrative. Deep, pulsating and full of intricate detail, the first act builds with a veteran's refinement. Developing in waves, exotic drums and subtle shades and tones fill in the framework, before a short break shifts the narrative into emotive territory, as impassioned chord changes and charming effects steal the air. Wondrously musically, melodic fragments carry into the centrepiece, heightening the senses, eventually giving way to a pensive roll and storyboard of astral designs and organic percussion. 

The companion piece ‘Journey to Ixtlan' follows suit with an equally impressive display of rhythm, groove and musicality. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around cross cultural motifs and percussive drive. Worldly vocal wails fill the air with a soulful charm, as melodic fragments elevate mood into a well timed second act. Playing out over two magical minutes, the centrepiece is a story within a story, wondrously imaginative and incredibly compelling, as bassy rumblings fade into wistful overlays, before smoothly segueing into a vibrant finale. 

In a year that has seen Sebastian unveil his most satisfying work to date, he continues in auspicious fashion with ‘Workaholic'. A fitting Replug debut, with two productions that will not only satisfy the most discerning progressive house aficionados, but also stand the test of time incredibly well.
