Upcoming producer Tom Laws has been playing his cards right lately with releases on labels such as Phobiq, Ground Factory and Resopal Schallware, and here he is making his debut release on Respekt.

The title track of the EP features familiar synth lines combined with tough drums and percussion, resulting in a menacing production.
Meanwhile, the one and only Tom Hades transforms the original into a full on Techno affair, complete with an analog bassline and crashing hi-hats, taking this one straight to the rave.

"Jugular" is more spaced out, featuring a militaristic, almost industrial edge that sets it apart from run-of-the mill tracks of the day, and to top it off, there are old-school synth stabs galore in this!

The seventh volume of Drumcode’s annual A-Sides compilation hits with no less than 10 debuts for the label, with Charlotte de Witte, ANNA, B.Traits and Scuba’s SCB project, among the collection of topline artists to release their maiden productions on the imprint. 

Over two decades into its lifespan, Drumcode keeps evolving and excelling, pushing techno forward while remaining wholly respectful of its roots. This reputation for progression was further fueled this summer with its inaugural festival at the NDSM Docklands in Amsterdam, featuring a long list of heavyweights including Nicole Moudaber, Joseph Capriati, Amelie Lens and Ida Engberg, among others. 

As ever, the A-Sides compilation provides a timely opportunity to showcase the full range of its sonic repertoire, with Adam Beyer scrupulously selecting 22 unreleased tracks that have taken prime position in his sets over recent months. 

Outstanding all-round talent ANNA kicks off the compilation with ‘Portable Paradise’, a pulsating cut that sets the tone for the top-shelf club cuts to follow. Also entering the debut field with their first ever Drumcode dalliances are B.Traits and Charlotte de Witte. The esteemed Canadian selector offers up ‘I Feel The Music’, a euphonic track that’s been sought after since spring, and the Belgian ballista unlocks a thick-edged club bomb in ‘Remember.’

Leaders of Drumcode’s new brigade, exciting Brazilian Wehbba and British techno alchemist Boxia set out to impress. Wehbba’s straight-talking ‘Just’ hits with an immediate sense of urgency before neck-snap claps strike with force, and Boxia’s ‘Final Call’ elicits physical engagement with mellifluous vocals and soaring pads. 

Continuously looking to bolster the profiles of emerging talent, Berlin-based producers Weska and Juliet Fox are brought into the fold with equally engaging razor-sharp tracks that are primed to do lasting damage. 

Other notable highlights include an exhilarating workout from Reset Robot - the most released artist on Beyer’s imprint Truesoul – as he lands on Drumcode for the first time. And tastemaker’s favourite Jel Ford makes a welcome return as he ushers in techno rhythms with bustling breaks in ‘Nightshade.’

Elsewhere, support from label mainstays comes in from Bart Skils, who offers a work of consummate skill in ‘West Of The Moon.’ Alan Fitzpatrick, who’s been heavily featured across the A-Side series, joins forces with Scuba as he operates as his uncompromising alias SCB. The result is a propulsive floor-gripper that testifies to their masterful deftness as co-producers. Formidable duos Dense & Pika and Pig&Dan also contribute with powerful compositions.

Incorrect Summer 2012 is upon us which means we continue the onslaught of fist-pumping tracks specifically formulated for the dancefloor. Up next is one of our favorite Brits, Filthy Rich. We spent sometime with Rich in Miami this year for WMC and decided it was time for him to unleash some of his heat on Incorrect Music asap! First is a killer single titled, "Different Strokes"; a thumping track bubbling with funk and a galloping percussive groove all while amalgamating hypnotic stabs and textures.

Two meaty and potent remixes adorn the release in two very different flavors; apropos for the title of the release.  David Herrero comes correct with his Iberian-esque rendition, rife with snappy drum-fills, warped FX snippets and just the right dash of tribal goodness chugging away beneath his groovy rolling bassline.

Da Fresh is no stranger to the Incorrect family as his remix of Anthony Attalla and Subfractal's "Grape Ape" headlined many big room artist's sets this past year. His lethal low-end makes another appearance with a deep yet high-octane mix as he sculpts a perfect weave of attitude and mood. Discovering just the right concoction of techno and house, his style is truly original yet not over-thought, giving way for sharpness and clarity in the mix.

Anton X presents a subliminal slice of shadowy Techno with "Klubnacht", focusing largely on atmospherics and haunting effects. Otherworldly synth stabs come and go, while cavernous manipulations and streamlined rises complete the bleak picture. The Imaginary Boy Remix strips things down and keeps loops of the original in order to create a hypnotic vibe. Tight drums and a subtle sub bass ensure that it's a bumpy ride throughout.

Saimon and Mezmeric walk down their familiar dark path, with a fresh dose of twisted sensibilities, in this aptly title offering for Kombination Research.The title track's quirky percussion sets the tone and exotic sound design brings us to a cyber-jungle. Out of nowhere, though, the whole affair later transforms into a melodic maelstrom."Chrono" touches down with a rolling rhythm section while nasty synth stabs are carefully interspersed throughout. Keeping the ship steady, a fistful of dissonant action appears just before the breakdown, ensuring classy mayhem.

Saimon & Mezmeric - Nipple Twist (Original Mix) [Kombination Research]

Bart's track from 2011 gets two reworks from none other than Wehbba and Jewel Kid, who really take the whole affair to the next level.Wehbba's juicy sub bass sets the tone, while classy percussion leads the way effortlessly. The anthemic breakdown nods to the original version, and it's the clever riff which plays throughout, that really steps things up a notch.It's all about acid in Jewel Kid's version, using an infectious bassline over old-school claps. The breather we get is more aggressive, and persistent ride cymbals provide the necessary momentum.

Victor Ruiz lands his Debut EP on Drumcode.

Victor first released on Drumcode last year on their most recent edition of the famous A-Sides Vol.7 compilation with his colossal track ‘Pulso’. Victor has been relentless when it comes to producing absolutely huge sounding tracks, which are heavily suited to the big club room vibe. This May he steps up for his debut EP on Drumcode with ‘Nimbus’.

The title track ‘Nimbus’ marked an important milestone in his life, his arrival to Berlin, his new home. Due to the lack of studio space and set up, he made Nimbus entirely with headphones and laptop. A piercing track with a punctuated kick drum that cuts through the mix, alongside some industrial tones which build an eerie tension. A track that really sits on the darker side of the progressive techno world.

Victor explains that this release is “very much a mix of old and new” representing two stages of his life. ‘Unveil’ was a track he produced back in Sao Paulo, when day dreaming of his move to Europe. A chunky low end combined with big percussion that makes it more of a heady introspective track on the release. It most definitely shows a more experimental side Victor but is welcomed and makes for a thunderous dancefloor track.

Roman Gertz has been building his name in the scene with releases and remixes on 1605, Binary 404, etc. and his debut EP for Respekt follows in the footsteps of his rolling techno style.
These two tracks on the Audioexit EP are bustling with urgency and tense atmosphere, yet still pack enough punch to shake things up in a big way.

The title track features a set of stabs that are instantly recognizable and set the tone for the track, while on "Act Crazy" the percussion takes the leading role and leads us in to a chugging, dark journey.

1605 etc., and brings us a hypnotic rendition of "Black Ice", with a very infectious riff throughout the whole track, keeping the groove level high.

UK techno warrior Harvey McKay takes the rolling "Cuernos Cubanos"
and dubs it out to new depths, chugging and bleeping, with rock-solid beats driving it home.

And last but not least, the mysterious Saboteurs have taken on "Seq & Destroy", stripped it down, sent it to hell, and brought it back up with pounding post-apocalypse drumming.
