When I first heard this track in the middle of the first lockdown, i instantly heard the support sounds that I could offer this prayer.

Culturally isolated in my home town, I took to the internet connecting with my favorite artists around the globe.

Contacting Ape, he was happy to provide the stems from the original recording.

And so the Amoriri - Tribal Bass Mix was completed through remote collaboration from Sth America to Australia.

Here are some words from Iyakuh who is the main producer of the music and one of the leaders of this project:

“The past 6 months I have been weaving to support the protection of Wirikuta the Wixárika ( Huichol ) ancestral gardens. We have been working with permission from elder Don Rafa & Wixá musicians Miguel Carillo / Enrique Ramirez to record their traditional music. As well as filming & capturing interviews in their village in the Sierra Madre Occidental range of Mexico. With permission from the Marakames I was able to capture some of their traditional instrument loops in the studio &
create an electronic dance fusion EP. I was very excited to have the support of my brothers J∙Pool & Jakare to weave on these tracks. We will also be releasing a series of videos / albums of their traditional acoustic music soon. The intention of this project is to find ways to spread awareness of what is happening now at Wirikuta. I am deeply grateful for my brother NIDO FILMS who traveled a long way with me to Mexico to capture footage to get this message out to a larger audience.”

Originally written during the Standing Rock Occupation against the DAPL pipeline, Poranguí’s lyrics speak to the mysterious healing power of love that arises even in the face of the ongoing genocide and war waged upon our indigenous relatives by the US Government and transnational corporations largely unseen to most of the world still today.  Against a backdrop of blazing Brazilian maracatu percussion and aboriginal didgeridoo, the song invokes the sacred responsibility we all carry as two-leggeds with the gift of these incredible hands capable of creating unimaginable beauty or total destruction. Translation / Explanation:
Om/Aum is a sacred primordial sound & symbol that signifies the essence of all creation, consciousness or Atman. It is often recited at the beginning of all Hindu prayers.

Gam is the sound representing the energy of Ganesha himself - as remover of obstacles. It is his bija (seed syllable) mantra.

Shreem is a another bija (seed) mantra vibrating the essence of the goddess of wealth, Lakshmi

Ganapataye, another name for Ganesha and is the formal Sanskrit pronunciation of the god's name.

Namaha is difficult to translate literally, but its meanings include “it is not mine” and “in your essence, we bow to you.”
