On Friday 25th March 2022, Belgian dreamwave producer The Future Kids released his second album “80s Dreams”, via Outland Recordings, one of the world’s leading synth and retrowave music companies.

80s Dreams is soaked in nostalgia. The album is the accumulation of the Belgian producer's decades long love for synthesizers and electronic music. Since his first album he has managed to forge his own style to honour the synthwave style of the old, while still evolving it with a fresh new sound. Sometimes dreamy, sometimes powerful, the new album draws its inspiration from 80s pop culture and the blockbuster movies of that time.

The Future Kids said of his writing process, “For this album I used a lot of layering techniques, and drum programming more similar to French house with a heavier sound. I put one of my early demos onto a montage of 80s movies, and it just clicked together. At that point I had found the direction I needed to go in, and I found a lot of nostalgic chord progressions and melodies which became the songs that are featured on the album.”

The penchant for synthwave’s chilled sub-genre ‘dreamwave’ is of course strong this year. With cassettes and CDs for The Future Kids’ sophomore album almost sold out, there is no doubt that the old retrowave sound is still alive.
