If there's one thing that not even these trying times managed to hinder is the flux of creative forces that feeds the ecosystem of likeminded collectives of which we are a proud and productive part. And, one year after our lives were upended, the web of music we managed to weave with our peers throughout the globe remains as strong as ever, simply because it is made of the most universal language devised by mankind and nurtured by the passionate participation of its components. This is how we maintained a strong sense of unity with crews such as Huntlers & Palmers, one whose members we know are deeply devoted to the same musical principles and wholly invested in the same communal values as ourselves. Those are the main reasons why we are more than happy to receive someone who's been striving to accomplish the mission of recreating those delightful moments of dancing joy with the same dedication, within or without the dancefloor. After a little hiatus we’re back with another addition to our mix series courtesy of Behrang Mohammadi, who you may remember playing with us at Frappant in late-2019. The Malmö raised and Berlin-based Swedish-Iranian DJ serves you a seamlessly blended cosmic disco selection with a few sprinkles of dissonant weirdness that eventually evolves into faster-paced italo, disco, and synth-pop territory. Back with another one - And it's a very special one indeed. This mix comes from someone who has definitely dug deeper than most over the decades. Flawlessly selected, programmed, mixed and presented in the most dubbest of dub wise manners. 

Chris Galloway aka Woodenhorse Provocateur aka the man like Roots Unit has been into this record game for a minute. He's bent our minds with the freshest OG re-edits and productions as one quarter of the Soft Rocks massive, brought us some wonderful modern house, Balearic and downtempo music via his peerless Kinfolk & Vibrations labels and has undoubtedly relieved quite a few of you of some quids in his role as a respected record dealer over the years. 

All of the above activities, as well as a youth spent partying in the midst of the original acid house wave and beyond here in the UK means Chris has a truly open musical mind and some set of ears on him, and through this mix we get to enjoy the fruits of his impeccable taste and collection. 

This one's in a heavy dub mode - if you hadn't guessed already - and by that we mean all shades of dub, from the spatial to the sublime to the unreleased and exotic. It's all here. We've been jamming this one hard here at GGHQ last couple of months - it's nice to finally be able to share it with you all.

Well, this one's a bit good! Mix #56 is here and we're excited to present it: 

Abigail Ward is a queer DJ, artist and musician from Lancashire, UK. She's a close family friend of us here at GGHQ, and we're psyched to have this blinding mix from her to share. 

She thrives on creating absorbing multi-genre musical road trips that are guaranteed to elicit an emotional response, be that on a dancefloor, at an art gallery or in your headphones. Twelve years as a counter jockey in Manchester’s best-loved independent record shops, Piccadilly Records, Vinyl Exchange and Kingbee, inspired her open-eared eclecticism. Abs is a well-schooled crate digger, she excels at stitching together oddball tunes from disparate sources and is not afraid to slice up tracks in software in pursuit of the perfect audio collage.

Her abiding musical passions include rare soundtracks, krautrock, deep soul and reggae, and she is equally at ease banging out underground house in a sweaty club, or live-streaming an ambient set from her studio in Hulme. The thread that runs through all of her musical selections is a sense of mystery, melody and a certain voodoo groove. Abigail is a co-founder of Suffragette City, an annual large-scale club event celebrating female, trans and non-binary DJ talent, which raises funds for local grass roots charities.

Luke Unabomber(Electric Chair, Homoelectric, Homobloc) described her thus:
‘She’s like a young Mancuso. Her selections are insanely magical. She’s got that thing. You can’t contrive that or buy or replicate it. It’s deeply esoteric and natural and perfectly balanced. One of the unsung heroes.’
