Having been on a musical journey through the wayward world of techno lasting over 10 years, Eddy Kreischer &amp; René van Geenen (co-founders of the techno imprint Audiosculpture) felt the time was right for a new and ambitious project in which they would be returning to their musical roots. They went back to the late 70’s early 80’s, at the time that the introduction of analogue synthesizers and drum computers changed the music scene in a dramatic way. Suddenly mysterious faceless projects producing alien-like sounds emerged from a world of pop music being played by recognizable artists. It was like opening doors and being sucked into a new universe filled with electronic styles like electro, wave and disco. Due to this first wave of new trends the awareness that producing music was no longer tied up by fixed musical patterns grew. This sense of freedom marked the beginning of an obvious development towards house and techno. Nowadays more powerful computers and better software guarantee even more unprecedented possibilities. This has inspired them to go back to the analogue basics using current technology and today’s knowledge. Last year this vision materialized into the ‘Sfera Celeste Project’ which resulted in their first instrumental track called ‘Celestial Stars’. Working in this innovative way made them focus their attention again at the use of vocal elements. Their first production seemed ideal for a trial to assess the added value of the human voice. On top of their list of voices from the past was Fred Ventura, nowadays best known for his work as producer and remixer of great Italian artists but who still occasionally gets involved in projects that appeal to him. A raw demo of ‘Celestial Stars’ was enough to succeed in welcoming him at Visitors Records thereby giving birth to an intriguing version of this song called ‘Walk With Me’. Everything seems to come together resulting in a deep, fresh and modern music style which is not restricted by too many rules. This again opens boundless possibilities regarding the creation of new tracks and inspiring livesets.

Modular Project - 1981 - Sisters & Brothers Vol. 06

Closing in on two years since the first release in the series, it’s now time for Volume 6 of Sisters & Brothers, the release series curated by Copenhagen-based DJs and producers Kasper Bjørke and Sexy Lazer. 

This time out, Sisters & Brothers stars Modular Project, the Italian duo consisting of Alberto Iovine and Alessandro Fumagalli. Residents at Milan’s club VOLT, their broad music taste and style creates a world that stretches from Techno to Krautrock to New Wave to 80s synth. Now they’re bringing that world to Sisters & Brothers, in the form of 1981 – Sisters & Brothers Vol. 6. 

The new release consists of three tracks from Modular Project, along with one track reworked by Kasper Bjørke. 

The opener and title track ‘1981’ keeps things short and spacy, a graceful, abstract piece of music clocking in at just under a minute and a half. 

Then follows ‘Past Present Future’, where the groove and motorik momentum kicks in for a heavy, driving piece of music hovers on the line between Krautrock and Techno. 

The final original is ‘Freshback’, which adds a little funk to its bassline to go along with the woozy synths for a light-footed, adventurous house track. 

Wrapping it up is the Kasper Bjørke Bonus Beat Version of ‘1981’, which takes the original’s spacey atmosphere and expands it into a vaster, more sprawling version, backed up with new drums to give it more structure and kick. 

All in all, 1981 – Sisters & Brothers Vol.6 functions both as an introduction to Modular Project for the unfamiliar, as well as an exciting new adventure for the band’s current fans.

Bufi is back with ‘México 70’ a new album, a couple of years after his sophomore LP on Discotexas ‘Revelación’.

With a broader, more eclectic palette of sounds and rhythms, this time the music gets infected with cowbells and bongoes, prehispanic samples, funky guitars, "guapachoso" basses and ethereal vocals. From the pseudo cumbia of "Hillalum (Amazónica)" to the suicidesque jam of "Impresionistas", this addictive album will induce you to have a lot of fun from the beginning till the end.

The artwork is a design by portuguese artist Braulio Amado, responsible for the covers of Bufi's previous two singles extracted from this same LP, "Brujerías" and "Hillalum (Amazónica)", released late 2018.

On their second release of the year, La Dame Noir welcome Tel Aviv's finest: Eliezer. 

The EP opens with Bauhaus, an indie anthem led by a mad vocal from prolific maestro, Curses. A hit in the making that bears the hallmarks of cold wave.

Two clubs-ready originals follow: "White Snow" and "Post Love" are full of overdriven guitars, chugging dancefloor-driven grooves, understated female vocals, and indie-indebted melodies. 

The 6 tracker ends with 3 strongs remixes straight out of Tel Aviv with Middle Sky Boom, Niv Ast and Uriah. The Israeli electronic scene has been on fire for more than a minute now and La Dame Noir is delighted to continue pushing that sound and scene forward.

‘Take #3’, the opener stems from the one of a kind UK producer Matt Karmil. Excellent production that has Matt’s amazing signature raw quality sound in every corner. The track fits in every party at any hour and warms your body and soul. We welcome Matt’s debut on Sisters & Brothers. 

Modular Project strikes again after their last fantastic EP on Sisters & Brothers. ‘Bottom’ is a floating dreamy cosmic track that travels to the moon and back. It’s a funky techno track with a real bass line, emotional synths and a distorted vocoder that bring the listeners on a trippy 80’s journey. A true analog product from Italy.

‘Austrian Hairlines’ is by Sexy Lazer & Kaktus Einarsson. It comes with a thrilling intro that turns into broken beats, acid and quirky melodies. Born 33.000 feet up in the air and brought down to earth to be raised up. Grew and grew and became this sharp and tense but yet playful electric character. Robotic and sharp as the sharpest Austrian hairlines. 

Technobeton & Friedtower presents ‘Tal im Berg’. This greatly structured and disturbed track made in Stuttgart is in your face. ‘Tal im Berg’ is about not doing it right. “We had a lot of instruments, progressions and effects in the arrangement (which is the ‘Berg’ (mountain) - it sounded right. So then we killed two drum tracks, several melodies, we discovered the TAL bassline, and what then happened became Tal im Berg. When we play it loud, people maybe feel the presence of empty soundspaces and fill them automatically with ecstatic shouts and dance moves.”

Far up in the north the Icelandic techno duo Bypass wrote a composition named Blómavasi (flower vase) years back as teenagers. Not knowing what they had made the demo got lost. By request of a friend they revisited the demo and decided to bring it to life. Imagine what Bypass can do if this acid bomb is the demo that got lost... Sounding great like the cold north. 

‘I Belong’ by Andi is also coming from Iceland and closes the package with a very elegant and well made electronica track that leaves you longing for more. A true talent to watch out for! ”In the track the classic mantra “I belong to you” is repeated several times over throughout the song, treated as if it were a sample from another source than my own voice, although heavily processed. This is basically just me talking to myself, for the purpose of belonging more fully to others. The track sprang from a feeling of loneliness causing me to expand unnecessary boundaries of belonging.” This is Andi’s second appearing on S&B.

Rheinzand is a collaborative project between Reinhard Vanbergen, the multi-instrumentalist producer, Charlotte Caluwaerts (Tundra) and Mo Disko from the renowned duo ‘The Glimmers.’ Live on stage they are accompanied by Stéphane Misseghers (dEUS) on drums and Bruno Coussée (MannGold) on bass.

Rheinzand’s music is a mixture of styles inspired by dance music’s rich history. Their songs give nods to old & new genres, forgotten & popular scenes in order to create their own take on today’s musical landscape.

Their exotic & eclectic style caught the ears of Danish label ‘Music For Dreams’ on which they released their debut self titled album in March 2020. Piccadilly Records (Manchester) voted the album number 1 album of the year 2020 and Phonica (London) gave them a well-deserved place in their top 50 of best albums of 2020. 

 Tracks from the album such as ‘Blind’ were championed by DJ Harvey during his summer residency at Pikes Ibiza, and the band have had tracks on the first two volumes of his Mercury Rising compilations.

The singles ‘Kills & Kisses’, ‘Obey’ & ‘Slippery People’ (their fantastic cover of Talking Heads’ classic) has further demonstrated their unique and flawless production that is capturing the hearts and dance-floors around the world.
As the live music industry held its breath for a year due to covid, the band didn’t get the chance to bring the first album to a club or festival near you. 

Nevertheless, they used that time well and wrote a second album, titled ‘Atlantis Atlantis’. Still using the same ingredients, you can hear an evolution in song writing, the use of different languages and more song-based structures. The release is planned for early 2022.

To keep momentum during the pandemic, the band and label Music For Dreams commissioned a string of remixes from their debut album from the likes of Gerd Janson, Red Axes, Musumeci, Pete Herbert, Peaking Lights, Superpitcher + many more. Released on digital & Ltd Edition 12”

Hailing from Gent, Belgium the band are set to tour upon the release of their second album 'Atlantis Atlantis' planned for the 4th of February 2022.
