TV/Music Library Sampler

This is a collection/chronology of original music and some jazz standards which was created with a focus on sonic accuracy and convincingly capturing the important instrumental performance features of the stated genre/time period. Starting from the Baroque era of the 1700 and ending at the moment with the alternative punk rock sound of the 1990's, and many styles in between! All instrumentals performed by Ross Hoyt (other than saxophone - Paul Melhus). Mixed and mastered by Ross Hoyt.

Misty [Jazz Ballad]  feat Paul Melhus - Sax

a performance of one of my favorite Bach pieces, Prelude 1 from book 2 of the Well-Tempered Clavier. Played on Nord Stage EX French Harpsichord library, into Altiverb Oratorium impulse response reverb (a very nice medium sized hall for classical ). Then processed through a Neve 1073 EQ, Fairchild 670 compressor, and Studer A800 Tape Machine (all UAD plugins) for a vintage feel. Enjoy!

Started out making a Flocka-style beat. Ended up  utilizing a more Chicago-drill style of drums too, and played in some classic raggae/dub type guitar and effects as well.

In addition to conveying a strong performance of these important JS Bach keyboard inventions, I tried to achieve a life-like acoustic environment and clear but colorful vintage recording sound, to harken to the classical recording techniques of the 1960's and 70's. These performances were recorded with the Nord Stage EX French Harpsichords, and for room ambiance I used the Altiverb IR Reverb of Austria's Schloss Esterhazy Castle Chapel. This was the location that Haydn lived, composed and performed many of his works in the early 1700s, so it was no surprise that the room suited well the keyboard music of Bach, his contemporary.
