Bella Hall es una DJ sueca que reside en Rotterdam, quien nos regala un mixtape que combina breaks suaves, dubstep y un toque de electro. Grabado desde el confort de su hogar, Bella explora vibras más obscuras comparado a otros mixes que ha producido. El mixtape intenta ser una representación de los días que parecen ser un loop dentro de su espacio en un encierro que parece nunca terminará.
Para la segunda hora, tendremos un mix a cargo del host usual DJ detektiv, quien como ya es tradición, nos comparte ritmos de lo más reciente que su biblioteca extensa y horas de digging nos pueden regalar.

It’s been a hot moment, so we can’t wait to finally announce the next EP on our Awkwardly label, “a hack is a foul“ by dadan karambolo.

Safe to say he’s been on our radar for a while, so we’re mighty excited to welcome the Wrocław-based producer on AWK005. After a strong debut release on his co-owned SPLOT imprint, an equally solid LP on Regime Brigade as well as contributions to various compilations, dadan is back with his signature moody, bass-bin shaking sound.

Hitting the sweet spot somewhere between dubstep, grime, breaks and ambient techno, these 4 tracks provide a somber yet seductive quality that invite the listener to get lost in a hazy amalgamation of stylistic elements. Rest assured, this combination of low end and rhythm heavy explorations contains the right formula to cause some damage on the dance floor.

AWK005 is set for release on Friday, October 20th 2023. As always, many thanks and much love for everyone’s support and feedback!

PREMIERE: dadan karambolo - beggar [Awkwardly Social]

A new 12 track compilation placing some of the greatest emerging names amongst some of the world’s most established underground producers and selectors together on one compilation. 

To launch the compilation we are debuting ‘Outer Space’ - a brand new track from Italian producer Adiel. 

Just under five minutes of bubbling, analog-infused techno, ‘Outer Space’ is just as beguiling and wondrous as its name suggests. A steady build of uplifting arpeggios and spacious pads, ‘Outer Space’ brings a wide-eyed sense of joy to the techno space; a transcendent work of sustain and release electronic music that inspires euphoria both communally on the dancefloor or alone within headphones. 

fabric Selects features names such as Bambounou, Air Max ‘97, DJ Mell G, Manni Dee and more completing a cross section of the contemporary sound of dance music with each producer marking their own stamp on the compilation. 

This is not only a celebration of our first year as an imprint, but a celebration of the genre-defining talents that can be found at our club and across the globe, proving beyond all doubt that electronic music in all guises is thriving more than ever before.

Schmeichel (Leipzig, Germany) has teamed up with Shane Lizard (Berlin, Germany) to expand their respective footwork influences. In the process, they have carved out a pulsating, constantly breathing core full of soul beneath ice-cold drum blocks that ultimately seeks resolution on the dance floor. The four songs on the Breath Studies EP reflect breathing techniques for control, support and redemption in interpersonal situations.

L'artiste ivoirienne basée à Paris offre un patchwork coloré et mouvementé en oscillant entre musique caribéenne, afro beats et musique de club hybride. Ses résidences sur Rinse France et Oroko Radio ne dérogent pas à la règle, mêlant bouyon, grime, coupé-décalé ou encore jungle, tel le portrait sonore de son parcours musical.

Swiss, but Rotterdam grounded DJ and member of the all-female AMPFEMININE DJ collective, BELLA HALL takes us on a captivating voyage in her contribution to our podcast series. Since moving to Rotterdam she has slowly but surely tried to integrate into the music scene. She is also part of the studio team at Operator Radio hosting and enjoying all of that which Rotterdam has to offer musically.

Through this mix, she gives us a taste of some of the music that has soundtracked the writing of her thesis. Expect a fast and jumpy mix of some grime, bass, happy hardcore, jungle, and lots of breaks; basically anything but soothing sounds – the perfect thing to get rid of your pent-up quarantine energy.

,,Bella Hall is a Swiss DJ based in Rotterdam who is part of the womxn identifying collective AMPFEMININE. This collective, made up of four other amazing DJs, aims at bringing a variety of colors behind the decks and hopes to foster opportunities for womxn in the electronic music scene. AMPFEMININE understands the dance floor as something inherently political, therefore, they always attempt to create spaces that are about safety, differences, and resistance. 

Her sets often combine a mix of music inspired by her UK origin, namely, jungle, dubstep, and garage. However, for this mix, she incorporates quite a few techno tracks which is the genre that got her into DJing originally. The mix starts with a quote by Deleuze, asking “what am I doing, or what do I hope to be doing when I do philosophy”. This self-reflecting question makes Bella create an anxious sounding mix as she tries and to answer Deleuze without much success."
