“Remind to Remember” is based on a poem by Terra Isis Gitane. For me this poem is about the essence. It provokes the essential lesson of life that we're all one, this rather non dualistic approach was a great inspiration for me. Yet I've found myself in the adventurous side of composing with contrasting and dualistic gestures. Being driven by eastern philosophy and the forces of nature, I aspires to compose by taking the elements of nature and transform them into musical gestures, where as the philosophical expression lies in the essence of the story.

FAUZIA is an artist of many moods. The UK talent moves from IDM to soul on her NTS Radio residency, while her club DJ sets reveal her love for '90s-style breaks, electro and bass-heavy sounds. In the studio, she explores her softer side through self-released homespun dub and ambient jungle.

In recent years, she's gravitated towards live performances. Her gossamer vocals, one of her strongest suits, cuts through live instrumentation like a hummingbird in agile flight. In 2020, the London-based talent told Mixmag that she was done being categorised as a "dance music" artist—and so far, she's succeeded. While she incorporates clubby touchstones into her work, there's a deep level of cross-genre knowledge and blending at play.

FAUZIA's RA podcast makes that clear. Free of any four-to-the-floor music, it moves from experimental jazz to orchestral melodies to R&B ballads for a thoughtful and introspective journey full of her own unreleased music that points towards her newer interest in composition. This is music to be felt, so let your guard down and let it wash over you.

EGÚN for Symphony Orchestra

While retracing my steps into my ancestral lineages, I stumbled upon the legendary tale of the Yorubu-queen Moremi.

Inspired by this tale, I aim to provoke a sense of catharsis by shifting between different moods. In those, I've explored both dark and light colors in the orchestra to create a sense of dualism. Whereas the never-ending drive by the forces of nature, Egún (meaning ancestors), and spiritual transmissions are grounded in every gesture in this piece.

Ranie Ribeiro's artistic journey has taken on new dimensions and disciplines. Formerly known by his DJ moniker D-Ribeiro, Ranie Ribeiro is solidifying himself as a harpist. 

One of the notable aspects of his transformation is not only embracing the role of a composer, but also as a stage performer. 
For award winning choreographer Sedrig Verwoert’s latest piece “The Ritual” (2023), Ribeiro was initially commissioned as a co-composer alongside Phantom Wizard. Eventually both self taught musicians performed live on stage while Sedrig Verwoert and Alanna Archibald executed the piece in elegant movements.  

In live performances at acclaimed venues such as Paradiso, Melkweg and de Doelen (2023) Ribeiro used the harp to experiment with classical, electronica and hiphop elements while creating and adding on to existing compositions he describes as meditative and vulnerable. Ribeiro also appeared with singer-songwriter Linde Schone on NPO 3FM and with the newly formed Kinship Ensemble at Ruigoord (2023).

Ribeiro unveils his talents as a score composer for the first time on Het Jaar Rond on Nous’Klaer (2021), commissioned by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. Embracing the harp’s delicate resonance he went on scoring various projects such as Het Limburgse Landschap (2021), Short Scores (2022) commissioned by Eye Film, and most recently, Waka Nanga Mi (2023). The latter short film was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and received massive public acclaim.
