Ingvar Tautra https://soundcloud.com/agnosturaelwar recently posted a group of instrumental tracks for open collaboration. One of them was a charming solo guitar that really spoke to me, but also seemed a little lonely up there all by itself. It is the first thing you will hear. I added to it only minimally, a bass and two guitars.

Future Funk (feat. Audio Colors)

It always amazes me how a collaboration can change the whole feeling of a song. Such is the case when Cloud artist Devin Locke reached out to me to collaborate.  I sent him a tune I had been working on, but would not necessarily stand on it's own.  What he did with his fine playing, getting inside the basic melody, bringing out the possibilities, reminded me of the playing of Django Reinhardt and helped me hear the song in a whole new light. The lyric is based on my experience of visiting the Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto in 2018, a magical day that I will never forget.

Secrets | Van Halen

In memory of Eddie Van Halen, Rest In Peace...

In my quest for rediscovering Eddie Van Halen’s music, the music of my youth, I am choosing to make covers of the less obvious material, not the hits or typical guitar shredders choices. I prefer to explore the ones that in my view are cool songs, and also highlight Eddie talent as a songwriter. Of course making these covers pose to me the possibilities of really getting into Eddie’s unique and peculiar playing style when taking the lead. I would have loved to hear a full instrumental album from Eddie, the more so when you hear him experimenting in the studio (yes, there are some recordings where Ed and his brother are testing then new material) without the vocal parts. Songs like Girl Gone Bad are basically instrumentals with some Dave vocals added. Also most albums contain intros and instrumentals where Eddie shows us sneak peaks of his extended capabilities. Imagine a full album like that, maybe the music vault in his home studio is full of it...

Anyways, I am approaching these covers in that light, trying to play them in honor of Eddie as instrumentals, where I feel free to  use the playing style I loved and learned from him in my earliest years playing guitar. Thank you Eddie... For everything...

We're a three piece band with part-timers who sit in on occasion (formerly Skiprope Cello. Same band, revised name). We're currently working on our 3rd album (1st full length) to be released on Bandcamp to be entitled "Vanity Fair." Watch for pre-releases soon. See Bandcamp link below.  

We're avid readers, so lyrics are often based on books.  Genre is eclectic mix of alternative, lo-fi, techno, lounge, punk-jazz of the 1920s/30s variety.
