Aurelius Clemens Prudentius (348-413) wrote the Latin version “Of the Father’s Love Begotten,” not long after the Council of Nicea, in which he confirms the Christian belief in the Trinity. It has bee translated by John Mason Neale (1818-1866).  

Divinum mysterium is a plainsong melody probably dating from the 13th Century. The tune was published byTheodoricus Petrus and in Piae Cantiones (1582).
