Long-time supporter of Sub Chakra, @richnines joins the mix series this month with a selection of footwork, jungle and autonomic selections to carry you into the spring equinox. Alongside @crystelclear, Eric is the curator of the @lighttwerkerz LiT MIX series and has been a leader in the underground music scene for 20+ years. Hailing from Toronto and now based out of Vancouver, he knows a thing or two about curating a set.

On High 2.2 is a deep vinyl dig through several decades of essential dance music. Spanning 90's Jungle classics, Bleep Techno, futuristic UK Hyper Dub, Down Tempo and more. Dubwise vinyl selector @richnines paints an expansive picture. Originally from Toronto, honing his craft with 90's Jungle crew Nexus 7 and 00's Dubstep crew Dubslingers. Rich Nines initiation to sound system culture came from both rave and reggae, with these influences shining throughout this superb selection of hybrid strains of techno, dubstep and jungle.

About the guests

@substance420 - Hailing from the East Coast this native of Sherbrooke, Quebec has been a major pioneer and leader in the pushing of deep sounds and sound system music and culture for many years. In the booth his deep and dark sounds have been an essential part of the underground Dubstep and Halftime for almost a decade, garnering support from some of the industries biggest names and labels across the world. A true head through and through he has also had a major hand in the growth of the deep community back home through his co-founded company DirtyCake which has hosted some of Canada's and beyond finest Producers & DJ's over the last 8 years.

Rich Nines is a multi-genre DJ with 25 years experience, originally from Toronto and now living in Vancouver.
He is currently the co-curator with @crystelclear of the @lighttwerkerz LiT MIX series and , and resident DJ at Art Battle live painting events in B.C. He and studio partner Brane are known for their vintage jungle vinyl b2b sets, and their trip hop trio project 1sisters with vox/synth collaborator witchythuggirl is due to release its first E.P. later in 2021.
Always on the move musically, in the past year his guest mixes have ranged from a booty breaks set for Ngaio’s show on swu.fm in Bristol, rnb/hip hop for Ayizan’s Mental Jukebox show in Lagos, footwork jungle for Sub Chakra in Calgary, deep dubstep for Lush Lounge in Toronto, and a genre-bending polyrhythmic triplet survey for San Francisco’s Subtempo.

1 More Thing is proud to be signing out of 2022 with a very very special mix from Jon1st as he presents his latest end of year megamix. 

An annual tradition dating back to 2010 when Jon decided to make a mix of his favourite tracks from the year to give away at his old club night, Jon’s retrospective sessions are a festive fixture as firm as cold cut sarnies, family fall-outs and that weird feeling that you don’t quite know what day of the week it is, only they’re a hell of a lot more fun… Especially this year’s mix as it concludes a game-changing year for the Leicester-based artist.

Following two years off-road due to lockdowns, Jon’s been busier than ever taking his unique high energy style around the world. He’s also found time to drop two massive EPs with Shield and Arcane respectively, collaborate with folk band Stick In The Wheel, and he’s been working in the classical realm for an impressive community-based project that commences next year. These are just the headlines.

We caught up with Jon just before Christmas while he was putting the mix together.
