And now for something completely different, Nat & I finally dare to delve into some areas we have always loved but didn’t jump into along the way. Classic folk and country seems at our roots and hard to deny as we’ve created our own sound with Daniels & Durgy. But As we yearn to express our vast musical interests we endeavored to find some way to create something that brought our diverse influences into being. So we took one of my simple folksy concepts and Nat’s production talents for building an infectious mid-eastern dancehall tapestry. We crafted something that paints the dreamy fantasy of a hot afternoon, taking the dreamer away to far off sandscapes and soaring sounds. This was a blast to create and opens a door we’ll not let close. We hope you will also enjoy it, come fly with us...

With Halloween soon upon us and all the creepy fun that it entails, we wanted to do something a little different from the usual ghouls, goblins and ghosts for this year’s fun. Nat had this idea to have a play with the great pop song David Bowie wrote and made famous in 1969. A song that speaks perhaps to drug addiction as much as anything to do with the vast and gloriously scary expanse of outer space, we tried to put our own Daniels & Durgy spin on it. Though generally in line with Bowie’s fantastic composition, we made some subtle changes to introduce a little love interest to the picture...does his wife actually work as one of the Ground Controllers?! Enjoy the journey and Happy Halloween everyone!

I think of this man as the Frank Sinatra of country music.  What
a voice and such a special gift.  So many wonderful songs and so many were so beautifully orchestrated.  I tried to get a bit of orchestra feel with the limited resources I have.

I Wish I Were Eighteen Again ( Cover  - Ray Price)

I've had a terrible cold/flu for about a month.  I bought myself a new guitar (Simon & Patrick acoustic) and a new microphone (Rodes NT1A) just before I got sick.  I've been dying to put them to (good) use.  The rhythm came off the S&P acoustic one evening then I finished off the rest the next morning, using some of the grandkids' shaker toys for percussion!!!  This was a blast to put together.  First time using a djembe and first offering using a harmonica.

As for the song, well it is just about relationships and how usually one person becomes more dominant which makes it (sometimes) frustrating for the other.  Pent up frustration leads to saying mean things.  Saying things which one regrets almost immediately but you can never truly take it back (and have it all forgotten).  Been there.  Done that.  Have the bloody t-shirt.

This is a bit of a change from my last happy song , it's a tad sobering ! It's not an anti war song by any means , I know they do have to happen from time to time to when tyrants are involved , sometimes we have no choice and have to rid the world of a monster . But it's always a sad state of affairs and this song reflects that , I do hope you like it though ! On a happier note , me and Kim have a cracking song out on the 21st , and after that are two belting songs , one a tongue in cheek rocker with Axel Menningen , and a huge song with Gaz Brownie . Clint Eastwood was Gorillaz' first proper single. A huge smash initially in the UK, where it remained in the charts for months and the top 10 for weeks. At around the same time radio in Europe also went mad for the song. Slightly later in 2001 the song would also become a massive radio hit in the US and central and South America. Bigger than his previous smash, Song 2 (with Blur), this song remains Damon Albarn's biggest hit. In the UK the Ed Case Refix (available on all formats) actually got far more airplay than the A-side, probably resulting in the inclusion of said remix on the debut LP. B-side Dracula was probably the best of the off cuts from the 'Gorillaz' sessions, and tour rap group Phi Life Cypher also contributed a version.

Feel Good Inc. is a single featured as the sixth track on the 2005 album Demon Days.

"Feel Good Inc." charted high in most European countries (including an at-the-time career best of #2 in England, accompanied by a chart run to rival Clint Eastwood's 4 years before). In the US, aided by an iPod commercial featuring the song, and presence on the latest successful "Now" compilation, "Feel Good Inc." took Gorillaz to a whole new level - the track peaked just outside the top 10 in the Billboard Top 100, and it was also top of the Modern Rock charts for a 3 week spell. In the UK, due to a loophole in the chart rules, Feel Good Inc was able to enter the charts before its official release because the record company released 300 copies of the 7-inch single format, meaning that legal downloads would count towards a chart placing for the single ( this was because, according to UK chart rules at that time, a single could only chart if a physical format was available, although download sales contributed to chart placings). A total of 4 new and original songs were available across formats, although "Murdoc is God" was only included on the Japanese CD. The feel of the B-sides was more free and experimental than that of those that had appeared on 'Demon Days' - showcasing another side to the Gorillaz sound. Also, "Feel Good Inc." makes an appearance in Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 on Wii And Grand Theft Auto 5 On Xbox One, Playstaion 4 And PC Versions.

Souther's partnership with Linda Ronstadt led to her beautiful version of this Original song being featured as the third track on her Grammy Award Winning Classic album, 'Heart Like A Wheel' - released in 1974. I grew up listening to country music along with early Rock & Roll. Chuck
Berry was nicknamed "Father of Rock & Roll.  With such songs as
Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven, Rock & Roll Music and Johnny B. Goode he topped the charts in the 1950's.  Every guitar player of my
generation played or tried to play Johnny B Goode.  He died March 18, 2017. No one does it like Chuck Berry, so I decided to do my version of Nadine as a tribute to the man.  Thanks

Started with a few simple tracks - vocals, my Martin Acoustic, a little backing vocal, and some quiet harp texturing. Marc Elluse wrapped my tracks with his luscious guitar work and tweaked a mix that just blew my mind. I'm so very proud to be part of this project and cannot say enough about the creativity and skill Marc brought to make this a recognizable cover, but a totally unique one, as well. Somewhere I read that SoundCloud is the DIY of the music world.  Very true for most of us wannabe (famous) musicians.  For those who were lucky enough to spend years in an actual sound studio, maybe this is a slam dunk. For the rest of us, it's like being the Wright brothers before they fully understood the science behind aerodynamics much less get a machine to fly.

I have learned a lot in 2018 thru 2019 while playing at small, local venues.  It's a lot easier to sit back in a "recording studio".  I do put that in quotes since, for me, this is just a couple of microphones connected to a DAW which is connected to a computer with some multi-track software and some free plugins to enhance the finished product.  I believe there are about 5 unique disciplines to learn which include: playing an instrument, singing, doing both together, using a microphone, connecting with the audience.  I have much more respect for stage performers now, especially solo artists. Now, if one adds the discipline of recording engineer, well then, you have a well rounded musical background. 

I do hope that you enjoy some of my tunes.  I'm always happy to hear from listeners who have something meaningful to share, even when it is not particularly flattering or in someway odd.  I'll even try to answer any questions you may have.  Remember that you are never too old nor too young to create and share your music and/or share your knowledge.
