sometimes it sounds good sometimes it sounds weird, both are a win

As I pondered the root of my art, I only had one word come to mind: Truth. I am an artist of pure feelings; art that expands across sounds to connect to the emotions that connect us all. I use my life experiences and so much of the worlds inspiration to generate music that speaks alongside all inspiration.

My sound is best described as experimental ghetto soul music. A sound that blends the sounds I grew up on, hip hop, R&B, gospel and groovy music, and creative new elements. A listener should leave my music feeling understood/ inspired to feel. I want to ensure that the world feels without fear. 

At its core my music highlights experiences and allows us time to sit and process. Time to hold space and empathize with one another; Music of joy and sadness/love and lost.

My name is Ricky and I have no music background but I'm making beats for fun with a focus and interest on hip hop styles. Shared here are my beat loops that I've made for Beat Making Lab using Ableton 11. Many of the sounds used in the beats are default to Ableton but I have pulled the sampled sounds from elsewhere, which are noted in the song descriptions.

This is a platform for some new experiences in my music career! To explore different genres and take unique musical directions is something important to me as I always want to be learning and growing. Creative composition is something I see as very valuable, so I'm here to share what I'm learning.

My creative name is None. None doesn’t mean there is nothing in this person, but that this person has the potential to be anything. Thus, it cannot be any one of every thing. Thus, this person is nothing. 

This person creates this name because this person doesn’t want to be bounded by any name and the identities the names represent. This person doesn’t want to be bounded by any motto and doesn’t want to live in any certain way. 

Thus, in this album, one will hear probably radically different approaches, styles and genres and their content range will vary. Everything depends on the current status of None. One can here hippop, but also R&B. One can hear None’s thoughts on social issues, but also on personal experience. One can hear the past and the future. One can hear happiness and melancholy. But ultimately, None is not any of them. 

None hopes that a potential fan can walk away with nothing here. Sometimes, if one lives the life with a none (nothing-in-it,无）heart, one can be in happiness.

nanaama is local to Raleigh, is Ghanaian, rooted firmly in the diaspora. As part of various brass ensembles, jazz bands, choirs, church groups, and even a steel-drum band, her first foray into digital music is one informed by her long musical background.

Her music is for the people who try to sing every part of the song -- bassline, harmony, drum fills, adlibs -- all at once. For those unaffiliated with genre in the same way one may be with social construction, normativity, in other words, for those who live genreless. For those who cling to culture and community, instead. For diaspora in every way it can mean. For the people who love to drown in a song. For those who adore weird sounds and silly moments. For those whom hair is a forum for intimacy, and matching grills a goal. For the girlies with blue notebooks and beads in their hair.
