Als uit het nest verstoten

Ik zag jij had mij nodig   
zachtjes klonk jouw hulproep.  
Ik haalde je naar binnen  
door de dorst werd jij verteerd 
en je kon niet eens vliegen         
dat had jij nog niet geleerd. 
        
Jij wilde toch wel blijven
dat schepte gauw een band.
Een band die ons zou binden
maar dan aan de and’re kant:
de liefde leerde jou vliegen
omdat  liefde vleugels geeft.
Wie sterk is wil verder,
wil laten weten dat hij leeft.

met  netten en geweren.
Blijf  liever bij mij slapen 
in je nest van donzen veren”.
Dit klonk toen ik dit zo zei
of ik  de vlucht verbood
als jij niet durft te vliegen,
ben je voor  liefde dood.

Als je gekortwiekt wordt,
niemand je ruimte geeft
dan is de wereld zielig klein
voor wie geen vleugels heeft.
Jij kunt nu veilig vliegen
ver weg van mij vandaan
en niets houdt je ook tegen
om weer terug te gaan.

I recorded this Man cover, written by Deke Leonard, at the end of sessions for my new album 'Til I Hear You Talkin'.
I had the pleasure of playing The Mickey Jones Annual Bash in 2011 at the request of George Jones, Mickey's son. I worked up this arrangement to play that night, as a tribute to Mickey.

I am not a musician but music plays a very important role in my creative life! I am an artist/designer and music is my companion and my muse in the long hours I spend working in my studio! 
I am immensely impressed and grateful for all the talented and inspiring musicians whose work graces this Cloud, and I will always re-post sounds that I love (and will listen to again) - knowing that others will enjoy them!
I feel slightly embarrassed and quite humbled when I receive such graceful messages of thanks from artists whose work I have re-posted - after-all, I am the one who is so inspired by the discovery of your brilliant music!!!
