"One day in May 2021 I had the idea to compose a few pieces using only a cheap plastic workstation my neighbour had given me because it was just standing around. Besides some subtle field recordings of a warm summer day on a green meadow, all sounds came from the samples of this little keyboard. �
'One Day In May' happened on the 23.05.21 and reflects of the lightness and beauty such a Sunday can have. Sometimes one can still feel melancholic on such a day, even if one sees the birds flying through the blue sky and the warm rays of the sun touch one's face. This little lullaby for lazy afternoons is quite important to me as it reflects on both sides, the open bright space of light and the dark room inside of us."

There is so much I could tell about our time in Kahramanmaras, but it always has been actually difficult to explain to others what we experienced there.  Still, I would like to share one tiny piece of it: A recording I made during the second week after the earthquake on the schoolyard of Sümer Ortaokulu, that has been selected as part of the French Pavilion for the XVIII Venice International Architecture Biennale 2023, for the project “Radio Utopia - News from the World” .

"The piece ‘Tozdan ilk alıntı is a tiny excerpt from the life on a small schoolyard in Kahramanmaras, Turkey, where an entire community is living in tents as a result of the devastating earthquakes of February. As part of the spontaneously formed ‘to-it together’ aid collective KAF, which has been supporting the local community since the first days after the disaster, the artist had the opportunity to collect footage and extract pieces of a shattered reality that is being transformed into something new. The recording contains conversations with children, beginning with 6-year-old Mohammed singing a Syrian song, before descending into a dreamy organ loop telling of rain, mud and the smell of burning wood. A little note from Sümer Mahallesi, Kahramanmaras through Istanbul into the world.”

This music is the result of a friendship established in Mexico between Marius Houschyar, Fabio Levi, Mazatl Alvarez and Mich Rubio who came together in the gardens of Central Mexico for spiritual and sonic exploration. All songs were recorded outside at the ranch of Mazatls father in Michoacán and the magical garden of the wise Abuelos in Mexico State between cactus plants and gigantic trees. The music contains mostly indigenous instruments such as flutes and ceremonial percussion instruments, as well as classical guitar, electric bass, a persian Santoor and one small keyboard. The song texts are improvised prayers in English, Spanish and Nahuatl. Every recording session started with a guided meditation and ultimately turned into a spiritual journey. A psychedelic trip telling of holy lands, the great spirits that inhabit it and a newborn, yet ancient brotherhood.

Urged to escape from crowded cities and information overload, the duo sharpened their sound and working process through isolation and introspection, crafting 11 songs filled to brim with enormous hooks, New Wave nostalgia and razor-sharp production details.
Barkosina’s voice echoes and oscillates against Jerome’s snares, profound and wounded at once. Her expressionist narrative take us to unknown yet familiar places, amplified by dub delays and otherworldly reverbs. Each track tells a story based on the intensity of relationships, a touching and distorted invitation into intimacy and complicity.

The seventh release of the label is related to the label owner Alexander https://soundcloud.com/Moralez together with the legendary techno/ hardcore/ EBM producer The Horrorist [https://soundcloud.com/thingstocome]. Their casual acquaintance at one of the night underground parties in Neukölln (Berlin) led to that future collaboration. EP contains three versions of the track “Sleep when you die”: the original version with the lyrics and vocals by Oliver Chestler aka The Horrorist; extended (DJ friendly) version without any vocals; and the “chaos effect” variation in the best traditions of the early hardcore techno.

To shine a light on artists in Mexico, Yu Yu, one of the most important venues in the capital, have teamed up with Mexico City-based label Infinite Machine to create a compilation, with a goal of raising funds to support artists who are part of the Yu Yu family.
