It’s been nine years since Antoni Maiovvi released Trauma on Bordello A Parigi. Since then and before, the Bristol-born artisan has been honing and refining his audio craft with explorations into electronics, soundtracks and rock. Now, in his latest musical incarnation, Maiovvi returns with Birds of Paradise. This avian-themed four-tracker is beyond anything you’ve heard from this synthesizer wizard. Complex, deep and layered, the EP is testament to a talent rarely heard. From the sheer elation of “Flycatcher”, which pivots and weaves, the listener is taken away. Throbbing rhythms and astral melodies are unfurled, arpeggios rumble as key scale ever higher in the heady notes of “Widowbird”. A steady kick is the morning song of “Streamertail”, warm computer tones scudding next chords that trill with optimism. Birdsong, a feature of the EP, is ever present in this agile and textured close. Drawing on his predilection for movie scores, “Quetzal” completes this feathered foray. Pulsating drums offer the updraft for a spread of sounds and shapes to takes to the wing. A unique record from an artist soaring to ever greater heights.

Our next instalment is delivered by the London based DJ and producer Farloh.

While drawing influences from his 90’s house heroes and indie disco contemporaries, in the studio, he never compromises to explore new boundaries by utilising his own vocals and playing with unique song arrangements while exploring sounds across the downtempo stratosphere, from slow kaleidoscopic hypnotic dances to chugger-heavenly club heaters.

Massimiliano Pagliara pays tribute to Manuel Göttsching in his first solo EP on his very own Funnuvojere Records, 'All the VCOs You Can Eat'. 

As a devoted fan of Göttsching's groundbreaking work, Pagliara draws inspiration from his musical hero, crafting a mesmerizing EP that encapsulates the spirit and innovation of Göttsching's influential sound. The release comprises three different interpretations of the same track, each imbued with exceptional artistry and technical knowledge. 

The ceaselessly rolling piano chords in A1 Modulator Mix and B1 Traveler Dub are clear reminders of Göttsching’s E2E4 famous hypnotic refrain. The slight tonal variations, the stretched-out acid line and the uplifting drums conspire to create a sense of transcendence and euphoria. The infectious drums have their own space in B2 The Lonely Drums. This mix has an irresistible groove that will make all dance floors bounce. 

The artwork by Pagliara’s dear friend, NYC-based artist Ben Ross Davis (https://www.benrossdavis.com), captures the essence of Pagliara’s music through a vibrant and emotive visual language, reminiscent of the pioneers of abstract expressionism. The geometrical forms and patterns mirror the intricate melodies and pulsating beats of this future classic EP.
