This one is more of an edit really than anything else, and is tribute to the musical genius and explorative nature of Ani Difranco as an artist, this one features legendary saxophonist Maceo Parker and his son Corey Parker rapping.

This remix was originally commissioned to "not sound like a remix."  They wanted it to sound a little thicker and to add a twist to it somehow.  The twist came by squeezing a few drops of jazzy juice from the tender tenor saxophone of John Juster, LA house music legend.  To see John slink around a dance floor is one thing, but to hear him become the panther is quite another.

This bootleg started out as a remix of "Let It Go" for our good friends Rise Ashen and Tara Porter.  Already having enough mixes for their release, this one snuck out the back door to begin slinking the streets with a message that it whispers to each passerby who dares to listen.

A reworked, re-edited, reimagined take on MFSB's "Love is the Message" featuring the vocal prowess of Jason Jinx from his release "Bring Back that Feeling."  This is elbow music at it's finest, the kind of jam that you don't dare put on your toast because it tastes so good on the dance floor.

Bring Back the Love (NRNFH Bootleg)

An unreleased gem featuring the legendary spoken word vocalist Rob Wilson, the voice behind Eddie Amador's iconic classic "House Music."  Originally recorded by for an Original release, this vocal never saw the light of day, so now it thrives and delights in the night, as a drop within an ocean of undiscovered music.

This was an unreleased remix that was rejected by a Commune of Manatees for reasons unknown, and they didn't even say thank you, which was not only weird but also meant, as a result, the work must be released, to grow a life of its own as it bounds through time, unbounded by the acceptance of anyone else.  Could this be a real release one day..."I Can Dream."

I Can Dream (NRNFH Bootleg)

The most clever bootleg of the bunch, this tune has layers of intention baked in, a lasagna of dance floor influence if you will.  What layers you ask?  The vocal is "Ebony and Ivory" from Paul and Stevie, which is laid over the David Harness remix of "Black Music" by Franky Boissy which features Roland Clark - on top of all that, there's an introduction  and breakdown by Fatcamp from a song called "Where the Rainbow Ends."  This one requires a dance floor doctor to dissect it.

Cutting my ravers teeth in the middle of a P.L.U.R. world I fell in love with The Chem's back in the 90's.  When their latest album dropped, I have to admit I was excited...until I listened through to the whole thing and discovered it was a bit more artistic than I was hoping.  With that being said, I did find about 30 seconds of unmitigated funk within the song "No Reason" that simply had to have something done with it.  We took it into the shop, chopped off the bumpers, stripped down the paint and put on a fresh coat of funky vocals, compliments of the timeless and delicious diva, Loleatta Holloway.  Dang this is gritty!!!

No Reason (NRNFH Bootleg)

Common Ground was Rise Ashen and Trevor Walker's first and only full-length, initially released on Canada's defunct, but classic Fossilfuel Recordings. Journeying alongside these two acclaimed DJ-producers, one experiences percussive dance at its most savvy, refined and soulful.  I would characterize it as a mix of Acid Jazz, Downtemp Lo-Fi with Reggae and Dub with various "World" elements thrown in.

02 Ammoye And Rise Ashen - Mad Dem

Silla and Rise’s debut album is a sonic experiment blending Inuit throat-singing and futuristic dancefloor beats.  Silla are Cynthia Pitsiulak (Kimmirut, NU) and Charlotte Qamaniq (Iglulik, NU) their name comes from the word “Sila” in their Inuktitut dialect meaning weather.  Sila is what surrounds us; it is what connects us to our land, to the moon, sun and stars, the ocean and the air we breathe. Take It Easy (Dusty Johnston's Rainy Daze Mix)

Last summer I had a visit from my childhood music teacher, the amazing Montreal-based jazz flute, sax, guitar and percussion player Jeff "Wind In" May.  It had been at least 25 years since we had jammed, and it was wonderful to reconnect with him and make this little piece together at my studio in Ottawa.  He walked into the studio with a tiny wooden bamboo flute and it's hard to believe the depth of sound he can attain with such a minimal instrument.
