Almost 3 years ago El Remolón and Brawlio met at a Fértil Discos party and there began a synergy that resulted in the already known song "Los Pájaros" and now in a joint EP of 4 songs that will be released in October and that gathers part of a forgotten Argentine popular songbook. Is called “Coplas para Amar o Morir” (coplas for love or die).

The songs speak of love, spite, betrayal and death in almost equal proportions. Faithful to the style of the members of the project, the versions preserve a gene of the original seed but both take the boldness to go beyond, changing some words that today sound outdated and print a modern audio and strong electronic imprint. At the same time they play with the genres incorporating original keys of traditional rhythms such as Chacarera, Huayno or Cumbia, all with strong Argentine roots.

The EP begins with "Muchas Estrellas", a reversion of "Contrapunto de Tonadas", originally compiled by folklorist Leda Valladares in 1991 in the Northwest of Argentina, where an original duel of copleros is transformed into an electronic and existential huayno. "Con su Permiso", the second track of the EP, is a kind of copy/paste of anonymous songs, where between afro rhythms and chacarera, it invites you to an intense and unbridled dance. It continues with a free version of ”Telesitx”, a traditional Argentinean folk song modifed by Jorge Cafrune and composed by Agustín Carabajal and Andrés Chazarreta, to the rhythm of an electronic chacarera. Guest pianist Natalia Schvartz softens the intensity of the lyrics with sweet black and white notes. To close, the song “Campo”, an unpublished sentimental version taking fragments of the Baguala de Seclantás compiled by Leda Valladares in the Documental Folklórico de Salta, almost without phonographic recordings, transports you to the Argentine countryside, referring to a wild journey in the middle of a romantic misunderstanding. Agus Ganem joins in on the Creole guitar and ronroco.

Following last Fall’s “Ceremonia” EP, Chancha Vía Circuito and Luvi Torres have tapped their friend Hermetics (aka Santiago Niño) to remix “Sano.” While the original used stripped-back production and rich ambience to focus on Luvi’s voice, Hermetics takes things to the dancefloor, adding a kick and deep bass, while beefing up the percussion. The result is an end-of-the-night deep house track, which still manages to highlight Luvi’s stunning vocals.

On the back of his album Natura Sonora, Shika Shika co-founder El Búho offers up a refreshing new direction on this four track EP Tón Tón, exploring the concept of organic dem-bow. These tracks are inspired by the idea of taking a now global and commercial beat but seen through El Búho owl-ish lens, mixing his trademark natural sounds, laid-back beats and mix of electronic and acoustic samples.

The release kicks off with ethiopian jazz inspired opener “Get At You”, a nod to saxophone legend Getatchew Mekurya, before going deep into a driving collaboration with Chilean producer DJ Raff featuring scattered vocals and whirling saxophones. Sol y Tormenta features Ecuadorian MC La Mafianadina providing her kichwa flow to the Siku-bow beat. The EP ends with the refined electro-swing-bow of Marti.

Inspired by the impacts of the climate crisis and how we deal with it as individuals, Cenizas de Agua features a magical meeting between El Búho and Fuel Fandango singer Nita. It combines Nita’s profound lyrics and flamenco trained vocals with El Búho’s crisp snare driven rhythm accompanied by cut up vocal samples, pulsating pads and a stuttering synth.

El Remolón and Brawlio continue to advance material from their upcoming EP to be released in October, which gathers part of a forgotten Argentine popular songbook.

The second single, to be released on September 22nd, called "Con su permiso" is a mashup, a collection of anonymous coplas, like a cut and paste that Brawlio has been compiling in his personal notebook and El Remolón has added a powerful electronic base. There you can find popular songs compiled between Salta -Argentina- and Tarija -Bolivia- by Leda Valladares.



The track takes an electronic chacarera rhythm with afro percussion and techno synthesizers. It rescues the most tribal origin of the ternary rhythms taking you to a danceable trance.

About El Remolón
El Remolón is the alter ego of Andres Schteingart, an electronic music producer who experiments with Latin American rhythms such as cumbia, reggaeton and folklore and one of the pioneers of the movement called Cumbia Digital. El Remolón evolved by creating medium speed tracks with a slow but catchy sound. His forte has been mixing dub with digital hypnosis. As an artist of the Zizek team, he has released 9 records between albums and EPs and toured for almost 15 years, playing in clubs and festivals in more than 100 cities. He has collaborated with artists such as Pablo Lescano (Damas Gratis), Li Saumet (Bomba Estereo), Ale Sergi (Miranda!), Gotan Project and even Peruvian teenage youtube sensation Wendy Sulca. He currently runs Fertil Discos, a label oriented to spread and expand the frontiers of South American electronica with everything that encompasses and goes beyond the idea of organic electronica. Brawlio is a queer artist, singer, DJ and producer from La Costa, Argentina. He experiments the electronic fusion of danceable and fokloric rhythms of the world. 
In his art converge records from different times and places where wild and ancestral songs resonate, but resignified from the experience of life in the cities, and the freshness of youth that is built with his feet in the sand and his gaze on the immensity of the sea... 
Through song, he invokes life experiences in the mountains, in the pampas, in the bush, on the beach, with a sensitivity that crosses the present space-time, creating shared imaginaries that bring us back to a different life. He has released songs with El Remolón and Barda.

 Fértil is an independent label founded in 2014, which brings together artists from the South American independent electronic scene. From the publication of albums, compilations and production of events, Fértil proposes to unite Latin American popular music and electronic music, in pursuit of rereading traditions and understanding the everyday life of the Latin being. Fulani features chants from the Fulani (Fulbe) people, closer from the Wodaabe tribe from Nigeria, that still nowadays lives as nomadic cattle sheperds. 

Hadza features a stringed bow and some occasional vocals from the Hadza people from Tanzania. The Hadza, who live as hunters and gatherers until today, hunt mainly with bows and arrows, as seen on the cover. The bow which they use for killing can be used as a musical bow aswell, played with the mouth or a stick. In this archaic form, it belongs to the oldest musical instruments in known history. In this case a resonator has been added, probably a calabash, to make the bow resonate louder.

The two tracks come from a series which’s work titles where “Stur”, “Stur2” and “Stur3”, which resemble the way of producing quite well: smacking drums, a dirty sample and a simple sinewave subbass. This rough and reduced way of producing led me to this very dry and abstract songs, which I feel have and strong, present and livley drive.

The name Djouma was inspired by a sample in the mentioned third track which is not on the EP, but appears to be a male firstname. So at this point: shout out to all them Djoumas out there! Y'all have a cool name!
