experimentation and the ability to jump seamlessly between bpms and genres.
Morphine Records,YOUTH &amp; Ominira affiliate, Marylou has graced stages at Atonal,
Intonal, CTM, and Berghain, and opened for boundary-pushing acts like Senyawa, Actress,
and Valentina Magaletti. Her fans include esteemed figures such as Donato Dozzy, Rabih
Beaini, DJ Marcelle, Lena Willikens, and more, drawn to her unique sonic narratives that
evoke her background in painting, cinema, and soundsystem culture. From organizing
Parisian parties to advising in studios and becoming a Rinse France resident, Marylou’s
journey has shaped her into a trailblazing artist. Now based in Berlin and a part of this
year’s SHAPE+ roster, she’s integral to Morphine Raum’s community, crafting mixes
steeped in cinematic, improvisational, and noisy explorations while keeping dance at her
heart.
Marylou is an artist of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art,

isolatedmix 77 - Aukai: A Winter Of Listening

While releasing a number of live sets and short recordings in 2019, this project represents my first proper mix release of the year ("Interviews with Astronauts" was released fall of 2018). Brighter in mood and instrumentation than recent projects, "A Vision I Once Had" soundtracks memories of California to nearly an hour of surf-soaked ambient piano. Right from the opening collage of sounds (which begin with hydrophone tests of fountains in San Diego), the listener is immersed in a subtly shifting landscape of relaxing drones atop layers of original field recordings. Aside from the debut of San Diego material, there are also plenty of little audio snippets buried in the mix (a speech of Winston Churchill, a vintage tourism vid for southern California among others). While most of the 50+ minutes is tranquil and polished, a few left turns keep things interesting in a few pockets (the orchestral blasts of Biosphere in "Cirque" or the sudden electronic bass pulses near the end of Midori Hirano's cut to name a few). Headphones highly recommended. Curation, editing, album photo, and all field recordings by R.J. Stefanski (2019).

A Vision I Once Had [Psychedelic Mix of Neo Classical, Ambient, Field Recordings]

Brooklyn NYC + Detroit | Message directly for inquiries about sampling recordings, bookings, collaborations, or questions | Since releasing a series of diverse mixtapes in 2011, Stefanski has slowly turned his focus to his own ambient productions, often built entirely of original field recordings. He has released a wide array of original soundscapes ranging from brief, high-def clips of thunderstorms to extended sound collages, each project sharing a hazy, psychedelic glow. Before moving to Brooklyn, Stefanski curated the chill out room for infamous Detroit after-hours rave BAK DØR. After relocating he released an LP of short field recordinged ("20 X 2"), a podcast for an experimental NYC label (Metamorph) and an album for Bivouac's "60 Minute Cities" series. His relaxing rain soundscapes are some of the most popular on soundcloud, with one clip nearing 14 million streams as of late 2020. More recently Stefanski expanded his productions with visual components, including a new website which hosts the unique travelogue "The San Diego Tapes" and photography prints for sale.
