This new case of a virus is spreading and people laugh it off
Snarky scoffs at panic buyers until they sneeze and start to cough
Economy’s crashing and even managers’ bosses are 
Collapsing and stopping to worry if next week they’ll even have a job
And that’s a lot to handle especially if you are a cop
But there’s a bunch of problems that are more obvious that need to stop
Judgemental thugs in a badge with a lack of good intent
Making it a nightmare for officers here to protect 

It’s fucking arrogant if you aren’t seeing the stats
Being a black-skinned individual is needlessly packed
With an engrained burden of just being sent to the back
And on top of all of that, some police are out to attack

Quit thinking of yourself and focus on the topic just a bit 

What’s next? Yellowstone explodes with a plume of smoke
The tumour broke on Earth and now the humans go to stupid mode
Meteors and cataclysm and aliens pay us a visit
And maybe they’ll witness us pray for a minute
This is the end times and if it isn’t, it should be a wake up call
To take all of our troubles and make ‘em all feel like hate withdrawal
I’m sick of waking up shaken up with an aching jaw
Flicking through the news to see the latest this year has in store 

Let’s fix the issues I’ve attempted to raise
The warnings of global warming seem to be swarming in lately
Government budget cuts to the fossil fuel industry must
Be the priority, funding of clean energy is just
The start to stall this clusterfuck, uppercut the higher-ups
Strip their wealth away and see how long they last as one of us
I have a hunch that some of the current prime ministers and presidents
Are nothing but an evil cumbersome bunch of cunts 

Stirring up their people by spreading rumours and tweeting shite
Scheming while the public is feeding off hype and agreeing blind
COVID-19 is a crisis we gotta deal with right?
A mask isn’t your freedom dying, you realise you’re being kind?
Keep your distance, stay at home, if you disagree or don’t
Follow those simple rules, you’re putting lives at risk you dope
I’m sick of these jokes thinking they know better than all the intelligent folk
They reckon they’re woke but they’re terribly slow and never checking Snopes 

It’s upsetting knowing many go in rarely showing any growing
Plenty going mental, toeing the line of blowing up lies
Oh, and semi-throwing lives away by lowering IQs
While yelling, moaning, begging, groaning, ebbing, flowing
Yah, white people listen
There’s definitely a privilege to being us, the history books are written
It doesn’t mean you’re life ain't hard, I live at the bar ‘cos I’m mentally scarred
It means your pigment isn’t another thing you have to worry about 

Racism is still rampant, it's not a personal diss
If you heard this and felt offended, well then it is what it is
And even with the massive amounts of bigotry that’s around
I’m seeing lots of positive changes in people’s actions now
I mentioned the aliens visiting, I wasn’t kidding
We need ‘em to exist to show us that every human living
Is on the same team, so enough of the bickering, it’s petty
We need twenty-twenty visions of life after twenty-twenty

Roger Ortega's record sales, performances and songwriting credits opened the door for him to be a registered voting member of The Recording Academy.  As a recently accepted member, amongst other things, he can officially vote for The Grammys.  

Avoiding the notorious "sophomore slump", 2016 release 'The Lottery' stormed the iTunes R&B/Soul charts up to #8!  Charting on iTunes is familiar territory for RO.  His debut album 'RnBPoPWrytr', released in April 2012, reached #62 on the very same charts. He has garnered terrestrial radio play and several of his songs have been put into rotation on the Pandora music site.  

As a child, Roger started to realize his dream of singing/songwriting, when he started a pop group at the age of 14.  Making their debut at The Topeka Fiesta Mexicana the group eventually changed members and established a following of their own.  This group took Roger from the midwest city of Topeka, KS to the bright lights of New York City.  He's performed with acts from Aaron Carter to O-Town and Color Me Badd to Jay-Z all while steadily building his fan base. 

RO signed with Mena Keys Records as a artist/songwriter/producer in 2011.  After the 2012 release of 'RnBPoPWrytr' he began working on the follow up in 2013.  Unfortunately after the passing of Mena Keys CEO George Mena, the label folded thus putting a halt on the project.  However with a fresh batch of producers wanting to be a part of RO's success he was able to pick up where he left off.  He was not only working with producers he felt could field his vision though.  'The Lottery' was mixed and mastered by Grammy nominated engineer Mikaelin 'Blue' Bluespruce who's lent his talents to Akon, Solange Knowles, Prince Royce, Ghostface Killah & Ruben Studdard to name a few. 

Gearing up for a busy summer RO says "Music is the soundtrack to our lives and we gotta tell a story."  And what a story he's planning to tell.
