After crossing the Galaxy and leaving the orbiting colony of Sinewave IX behind, the ship’s crew receives a cryptic transmission. A single signal, repeated endlessly: a grainy image of a cosmic face adorned with an enormous white mustache.

Interstellar databases do not register any such entity, but the elders of the Sound Academy speak of the White Mustache: an ancient vibrational intelligence, born from the collision of two pulsars and fueled by grooves forgotten in time.

Guided by the magnetic rhythm of low waves and broken beats, our explorers enter a forbidden quadrant, where every sound is distorted, every frequency a challenge. It is there that they discover the truth: the White Mustache is not just an entity. It is a state of mind. A transfiguration of rhythm in pure form. A soundtrack for those who dare to lose themselves in the unknown.

One year after the release of Pegasvs' EP "New World Energy," Burnin Music presents "NWE Remixes," a digital package that breathes new life into the original material. This remix collection features interpretations from three distinct artists who each bring their unique sonic signatures while maintaining the essence of Pegasvs' vision.

Tee Mango, the respected English DJ and producer, transforms his selected track with his trademark warm, analog-rich sound. His remix maintains the emotional core of the original while injecting it with a subtle UK sensibility that's both club-ready and introspective. The reworked elements create a perfect balance between dancefloor functionality and headphone-worthy intricacy.

French artist Flabaire delivers perhaps the most transformative remix of the package. Taking a dubby, minimalist approach, Flabaire strips back the original to its bare essentials before rebuilding it with spacious textures and hypnotic rhythms. The result is a deep house journey that unfolds gradually, rewarding patient listeners with subtle shifts in energy and atmosphere.

Rounding out the EP is Spanish-born, London-based Beringei, whose broken beat sensibilities shine through in his contribution. His remix features ingeniously chopped percussion patterns that dance around the original elements, creating a sense of familiar disorientation. The standout element here is undoubtedly the treatment of Twyla's vocals, which are manipulated and processed into ethereal textures that float above the intricate rhythmic foundations.

As the head of Lumière Noire Records, CHLOÉ has been instrumental in developing a platform where the most contemporary electronic artists can thrive. The Parisian DJ/producer’s forward-thinking spirit has enabled her to collate an eclectic roster producing beautifully innovative sounds that’ll be just as suited to museums, installations and art exhibits as they are at dancefloors, clubs and festivals.

LAUER’s single ‘H00V’ will act as the introduction on this mini-VA series release on the 23rd May, with the full package featuring tracks from Paresse, Costello and an exclusive collaboration with CHLOÉ and Destiino will be out on the 6th June.

Paresse’s ‘SEM EMS’ opens the release with the genre-splicing Stockholm native completing the VA’s impressive cast of contributors. A methodically designed arrangement of dub-laced melodies and motorised grooves, its choppy mix of low-end and digitalised undertones revolves uninterrupted with woofer shaking intent before the beat comes to an abrupt halt.

Bordeaux native, Costello is renowned for his versatile productions, on his track ‘Fresh Flesh’ he incorporates a jagged, fractured melody that bumps alongside haunted organ strings that permeate each breakdown. With nods to dark disco and minimal house throughout, the unpredictability of the VA’s opener sets a truly intriguing precedent as for what’s to follow.

A long-time collaborator of CHLOÉ’s, Yuksek revives his mysterious Destiino alias to collaborate with her on ‘Venere’. Feverish and choppy from the get-go, it features far-out melodics that click together to produce a wonderfully weird amalgamation of hissing synths, chunky bass notes, and a series of mystifying effects that snap and pop across its stuttering, robotic soundscape.

Frankfurt renowned DJ/producer LAUER who had already contributed a track to the label’s ‘From Above Vol.1’ compilation back in 2018, adds a garage-like edge to the VA with his track ‘H00V’ to act as the teaser single on the 23rd May. A stomping maelstrom of percussion underpinned by a nose-diving, mottled bassline makes up the core of this 00s-era throwback, which rigidly sticks to the 4x4 blueprint as bells ring, snares snap and laser-strobe effects flash to create a darkly crafted but still vibrant composition.

Maud Geffray and Sébastien Chenut, aka Scratch Massive, dropped their latest album Nox Anima back in February. It was composed and recorded in Los Angeles and marked a new chapter with poetic flair, cinematic atmospheres and a dreamy, melancholic mix of synth, techno and cold wave sounds. It comes more than 20 years after the pair started out, off the back of a steady stream of superb singles and albums that have amassed millions of streams, led to syncs with brands and TV shows like Yves Saint Laurent, L'Oréal and Emily in Paris, and headline shows all over the world.

The absorbing Hunger is a widescreen sound with ethereal vocals that float above slow, purposeful electro rhythms. Wispy synths and subtle acid lines weave in and out, bringing a cosmic flair as the energy builds. The whole track builds to an escapist peak that overflows with emotion and introspection.

Belaria has risen through the ranks of her native French scene, with sets at Rex Club and La Machine, top tunes on labels like Friendsome, and a stylish blend of Italo, EBM, techno and new wave. Her fantastic rework is an Italo space disco gem, where synthwave magic and dance-floor grooves intertwine to take your mind and body up into the stars.

Amarcord is an Italian musician, DJ and live performer who blends new wave, disco, techno and ambient on labels like Cardini’s Correspondant, Watergate, Ombra International and Aeon. His remix of another album track, On The Edge, is a glistening electro workout with uplifting synth arms and heavenly pop vocals that are doused in shimmering, uplifting chords.

Scratch Massive's Hunger comes on bORDEL Records on June 5th 2025 with the Amarcord remix of On the Edge arriving on June 26th.
