With an aesthetic sense drawn to the "noir" side of music and never-ending love for 80s-inspired sounds and psychedelic music, Eddie Lanzat's releases on Nein Records, Emerald & Doreen Recordings and Dogs & Vultures Records felt like a natural thing to do for the Control Club resident.

Besides the reckless experimentation under various aliases and playing all-nighters or joining the lineup on some occasions at venues & parties such as Kater Blau, Crack Bellmer, Bohnengold, Gouter de Nuit or La Rotonde Stalingrad, he takes care of 'Cabinet', a party co-curated alongside Nek.

Parallel - Leaking

AEON is kicking off 2023 with a well-known family member returning to the camp: Vhyce. His first songs on the label, released in 2021, sky-rocketed his career. After one EP and several tracks being released on our “Lost Tapes & Versus” compilation, he’s back with a stunning 4- tracker EP named Suspension of Disbelief.

Vhyce, known for his tracks to create subtle tension and tell stories with no words, has developed his sound a bit further with this EP; though without losing his remark. “The titles“, Vicente explains, “are respectively referring to the structural lateralization of the brain. The feeling of closure and the avoidance of logic in examining something impossible.”

Asymmetric Mind Shift is a song full of summer feel, which could be well needed in the rainy, snowy and cold days of winter. More housey than what we might be use to, but not less catchy this tune comes along, unfolding in a sparkling break with a classic M1 Piano- riff.

Epilogue is most probably the essence of how we would define Vhyce’ sound. Indie dance meets Roland Synths with a touch of progressive. This time, as a cherry on the cake, the main melody is played by an E-guitar.

Suspension of Disbelief and its beat-less version Out of Disbelief are mixing organic and synthetic sounds, trying to evoke suspense. A hymn-like chord theme, mystic vocals and pad- sounds guide this track to become a perfect one for a set ending the night while the sun comes up.

Spanish artist James Rod joins Roam Recordings with two original mid tempo driving psychedelic offerings. The title track Baila con Satán features a warped vocal backed by an energetic swirl of electronic mischief. Metatrone goes deeper with hypnotic trance inducing arpeggios and moving synth work. Duncan Gray returns to Roam with two remixes - one for each original. Duncan’s take on Baila con Satán keeps the psychedelic vibe of the ep but put it into more chill territory with live bass and guitar echoing about the ether. By contrast, Duncan Gray’s remix of Metatrone picks up the tempo and brings the acid.

It's time to get the smoke machines & glitter balls out as Pentland Park bring the heat with their Maître de Sagesse EP for the 8th release on Lava Lava.  The duo have been a mainstay in the Scottish underground scene for many years, gaining a reputation for their eclectic DJ sets and recently clocked up acclaimed releases on Brand New, CB90 Dance Recordings & Everything Will Be OK.  Their latest EP is a foray into classic Italo and Disco sounds accompanied by a sensational remix from Somethin' Sanctified.

Leading the EP, title track Maître de Sagesse takes you straight onto the dance floor with skipping drums, hazy vocals and a sub-heavy plucked basbline.  Hand claps, rattles, guitar licks and fluttering synths inject classic Disco elements into this infectious groove.

On the B side Enterprise is a nod to classic Italo sounds whilst remaining firmly rooted in modern club culture.  An effortlessly cool track where rolling hi-hats, arpeggiated bass and retro snare hits bounce alongside soft synthesisers and sharp pads.

Somethin' Sanctified bring their signature sound with an irresistible analogue take on Maître de Sagesse laid out across 7 minutes.  Crisp percussion, echoing vocals and bright synths lead playfully through the track to a gorgeous breakdown. Resonating low-end bass and four-four grooves bring a classic House flavour to their interpretation.
