So here I am, happily an album older, introducing the first of Adamant's remix packages.

Since the whole project was, generally-speaking, "a personal affair" and a lot of the album was not necessarily "club-ready" (does that even make sense?), we invited our friends on board to do the dirty deeds for me and rework my sounds into something normal people can dance to.

First up are Mind Against. I've known these guys for a long time, and despite them being somewhat "new" to the scene, I clearly remember them fiddling around with cheap cracked software like the rest of us Milanese idiots around the same time. Matured into true synth magicians, they've been years in the making and, if you ask me, it shows.

Next is Alex Smoke, who I believe needs no introduction. Probably one of my biggest influences, I have been a fan for ages and he is the reason I discovered Vakant. In case you've been living under a rock, after a little break he's now back with a bang, responsible for probably one of the year's best LPs (as Wraetlic), an outstanding EP on the legendary R&S and now this. I've had the pleasure of finally meeting and hanging out with Alex a few times while we were both living in Berlin and I have to say he's exactly as awesome. His remix totally destroys my original, which I thought sounded "fat" but now sounds like a skinny girl in Barbie clothes in comparison.

Lake People (actually just one Lake Person, Martin Enke) is another really nice guy who just happens to make great music. After months of people telling me I should check his stuff out, mentioning we had a lot of things (sound-wise) in common, I had the pleasure of playing after him in Paris. His liveset totally rocked the place and I've been a fan since, so it was a pleasure to have him on board.

Last but not least, new Vakant boys Sons of Tiki round off the package with a club-oriented version of "Blackened".

I guess that's all. I'm not very good at this marketing hype thing, and upon re-reading this it actually made little sense, nor is it particularly inviting. Whatever the case I hope you enjoy listening, playing or partying to this as much as we did making it: I assure you the music is better than this writing.

Finally, I can talk about this - my debut album Human is coming next year, March 10. This is the first single from it, Adrift, with my long running vocal collaborator Kathrin deBoer. I had a simple piano chord progression and a randomised percussion idea to give to Kathrin, who captured the feeling beautifully with her lyrics and jazz influenced vocal approach. It's more of a personal piece of music for me than a club track, which is the approach I've taken for the whole album.

Back in March 2003 Claro Intelecto announced his arrival in the electronic world with his Peace Of Mind EP on Ai Records. Now, a decade later, Delsin, the label on which he released his latest LP, is re-releasing it in all its glory. Across four perfectly formed tracks the EP proved Manchester’s Mark Stewart to have a fine grasp on techno, electro and dub, and that he was able to do his own unique things with each.

Arguably the most well known cut from the EP is 'Peace of Mind (Electrosoul)', a busy bit of chattery house-come-electro that is wired up with many zithering melody lines and Claro's trademark lush strings. 'Tone' is then a much more frazzled and aggressive bit of techno with raw, slapping percussion, gurgling synth lines and plenty of dystopian electro vibes. 'Contact' then settles into a deep, dubby, spacious groove with airy hi hats and a delightful bassline and carries you along effortlessly, and final track 'Signifier' closes things out in beautifully serene style with ambient swirling pads, organic synths and a curious bassline that rises and falls like the tide. Seminal stuff that still fetches a high price on Discogs, it was the start of a remarkable career for Claro Intelecto.

Hey everyone,

It’s me again. I’m sipping coffee and staring at this Mac’s calendar, suddenly realising it’s already been more than 4 months since the release of “Adamant”. I think thank-yous are way overdue so I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge everyone involved in the project as these have been a really amazing four months.

Enough nonsense and let’s back to business, or the purpose of this text: I (drumroll) proudly present the final 5 re-interpretations from some talented friends.

It’s an honour for me to have Francesco’s techno, David’s modular madness, Jake’s synthwork and Martin’s melodies all in one package, but being both fan and friend of everyone on board I’d be blatantly biased in describing this record’s contents.

So, since it’s 2014, why don’t we switch banalities, skip the “description" and “let the music do the talking” (ugh, did I really just write that?)

heres another song from my upcoming album.
i started this in London with an idea i recorded on an upright piano - took this to Los Angeles (set up at Fleas the Boat studio in Silver Lake)  collaborating further with Stella (drums) & Emily (vocals) from Warpaint - took this back to london to work more arrangement ideas to it and finally a couple months later took that to New York (Downtown - The Roots were in the studio next door!) and collaborated with Ferg (out to our friend Callender for connecting us)
this is one of my fave tracks and seemed to be a fitting ending to the record too.
this started with me having a seed idea but seeing it grow way beyond that with these multi layers of collaboration and places. shout to ferg, stella and emily for their input!

Twin Turbo kicks off 2013 with an EP of club-rocking house-jackers from Scottish prodigies Clouds.

Following a year that saw their critical stature soar and made fans of a growing legion of techno stars (Chris Liebing and Gary Beck both named "Consciousness" the top track of 2012), Clouds take a break from their maturation process to crank out a few knee-jerk tracks built for the masses, each crafted around a catchy hip-hop inflected vocal hook. 

"Terrorcore" will scare the living sweat out of you with a deadly parade of monstrous toms and vocal sample that will force you to work through your cash-flow anxiety on the dancefloor. "Local Bubble" is the housiest, funkiest thing Clouds have ever done, a supremely playable record that will surely find a crossover audience. Finally, "HE_1523_0901", pumps the bass up with Clouds's signature distorted kickdrum sound, a minimal arrangement with more clever vocal cuts.

Twin Turbo - starting the new year with new bombs for a new generation of party people, some of whom are too young to remember when we invented high-energy dance music back in 2011.
