San Jose,California. Playing real deal punk/surf/hard blues styled rock'n'roll since 1993. The band features skate rock pioneer Ray Stevens II on bass and vocals (Los Olvidados, The Faction,Drunk Injuns,Odd Man Out),Jonny Manak guitar and vocals( The Cliftons, Fang,
The Depressives) andEric Powers on drums/no vocals (The Careless Hearts,
The Pimpsticks, Whiskey Sunday). 
The band has been featured on many skateboard videos, rocked many skatepark grand openings and contests plus many fabulous gigs with Mudhoney, Hightower, Gas Huffer, The Odd Numbers, Agent Orange, JFA, The Shitkickers, etc)
Biography
Clay Wheels started in the early nineties in San Jose by Ray Stevens II feeling the need to get some action music going with buds Kal Gettle and Randy Burk. After a few trips to the Northwest and shows in the Bay Area the shape of the group was constantly changing with different drummers (Todd Jackson, Julie Rose) and a fill in studio guitarist (Mike Fox) the core of the group settled when Jonny Manak was added on guitar and Eric Powers stayed put on the drum stool.
Born to Barge was recorded and released as a promo item with the Black Label Jason Adams Punk Point board and the songs were featured on 411 skate videos, skate documentaries, radio ads, etc.
The band played GvR contests for Etnies,skatepark grand openings and rocking shows.
Special guest and legendary pool skater Steve Alba is a friend of the band and plays with them from time to time!
The band is on flow from Emerica/Etnies/Don Brown!!

Tom Mein is a guitarist and teacher with 30+ yrs playing and 15+ yrs private teaching experience. Born in Detroit and raised on Motown, his influences span the gamut from rock to jazz to funk and beyond. Since moving to Arizona, he has done music clinics at the Conservatory for Recording Arts in Gilbert, worked in the house bands at the Jackrabbit Lounge and at Skye, fronted a jazz/pop trio, played in rock, metal, and funk bands, and is a first call sideman for many artists throughout the area. Bands Tom has worked with in the past include Crayon Sky, the Vibe, Floor 13, 101, the Kip Fox band, the Tim Sealy Band, Time Bomb, the Sharett Miller Duo, Jefrey Taylor's Southern Soul Express All-Star Band, and more.

Tom performs solo, both in public venues and for private engagements, playing his own music as well as instrumental interpretations of rock, pop and jazz standards, everywhere from restaurants to concert halls to countless corporate and private events. Tom is also actively involved in several other musical projects, including: 

~ a jazz guitar duo with David Dutton 
~ a vocal/guitar duo with singer Sharett Miller 
~ the smokin-hot rockabilly of Bret Kaiser's "56"

all of which perform regularly throughout the Valley of the Sun.

In addition, Tom maintains an active teaching practice and has a roster of 20+ weekely students. He is always available for private instruction.
