Origin notes: Sometimes it feels good to play too many notes - This goes into the set "Viva La Evolution"  Working on my guitar and my fingers are "Kitty Soft Paws" Wanted to remind myself what letting loose on the keyboard was - after an especially trying day on the never ending wheel of the rat race.  Hope to develop this theme.  But needed to get it out there tonight.

The Xmas Tree

This piece comes from a much earlier period of my musical development. It is an assortment of musical ideas that was originally recorded in a studio with piano, synthesizers, electric bass, flute, drums and percussion. When I was signed with NOVA records, I reduced the composition to a solo piano piece. Since that time much has changed in my musical sensibilities and so it is time to revisit this tune. I am currently restructuring this composition for ensemble in a new recording project that was initiated by an offer to perform a concert. My intention is to recompose the entire album. My belief is compositional continuity and emotional content will be greatly improved with these reborn versions. As a reference, here is the piano solo version.

Trilogy was one of the first songs by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer that I ever heard. The sound of the Moog really grabbed my attention, and I am very happy to cover this song now in honor of Keith and Greg.

The piano was played on the Amber Upright from Nord, on the Nord Piano 2 HA88. The lead synthesizers were played on the Moog Little Phatty. The organ was played on the Nord Electro 4D. The synth strings in the intro and synth horns were played on the Yamaha M06. The bass was played on a fretted Fender Jazz bass copy that has been modified for me. The drums were Session Drummer 3, Andy Johns Kit. The suspended cymbal rolls were from the Vienna Symphonic Library Percussion Collection. I did all the vocals using a Lewitt handheld condenser microphone.

I wanted to explore some more music from the 1980s. I also love the instrumentation and lyrics of this song! 
I sang all of the vocoder parts, and all the orchestral tracks were a combination of my Yamaha M06 keyboard and the East West Hollywood Strings Library. The guitars were a combination of my custom MarbleHead and Ibanez guitars. The drums are the Session Drummer 3 Glam Kit.

A gorgeous, soulful ballad with a "Muscle Shoals" style arrangement, and spectacular performances by a bunch of A list musicians:  Steve Nathan on keyboards (also did the arrangement),Tim Pierce on guitars, Matt Bissonette on bass and John Ferraro on drums.  Killer vocals by Will Russ Jr, with backing vocals by Sue Lowery.
