Artist Sunyata and Chris O’Shea have played together as a Guitar Duet based in Cairns, Tropical North Qld Australia since 2019. 
Perhaps easier to class their approach to music as Modern Jazz Instrumentalists for simplicity sake, with the obvious love of impromptu guitar improvisation and experimentation.

The duo have equal interest in preconcieved and elaborate contemporary and traditional styles and approaches toward composition. 

With extra instrumentation, piano, percussion and ensemble works are scored out in entirety by Sunyata. Then the overlayed of improvisation, if needed, with any final studio production completed by Chris. Many works  are ‘one off’ live shots recorded on the spot on our weekly morning music day, and then presented here, as they were ‘made’ on the day! 

Sunyata’s attitude is that he and Chris are two Artists working together, and invention and freedom is their credos!

It's a blessing to be able to create music and if someone enjoys my work, that's icing on the cake! All blessings come from God.

As a retired DOD Civil Service worker, I have time to record some. I have been recording at home sice around 1990 and some of my tracks are very old.  I‘ve had 50+ years in bands playing music of many types. I still play the club scene 3 to 4 times a month. Life is good!

Como trabajador jubilado del Servicio Civil del Departamento de Defensa, tengo tiempo para registrar algunos. He estado grabando en casa durante unos 23 años y algunas de mis pistas son muy antiguas. He tenido más de 50 años en bandas tocando música de muchos tipos. Todavía juego en la escena del club de 3 a 4 veces al mes. ¡La vida es buena! Soy un guitarrista al que le gusta escribir, grabar y cantar muchos estilos de música. Por favor, echa un vistazo a mis pistas. También estoy disfrutando de las colaboraciones ocasionales. Blackwater Lightship are Tom Roberts and Leon Lockley and Dan Oram. Ranging from delicate folk rock acoustic arrangements to a full on grungy, post punk alternative assault on the senses, Blackwater Lightship have been crafting their sound for the last two years. 
Tom and Leon met by chance in Manchester via a mutual friend. Realising they were both musicians who shared a love for many of the same bands, they decided to meet for a jam in the studio.
Tom has been playing drums since he was eight years old and Leon has been playing guitar, bass and various instruments since his teens and took up singing later in life! Both have been in various other bands but felt a real connection with what they were doing together in this project.
Soon, they were collaborating and writing songs together and 2024 saw them bring their unique sound to the independent venues of Sheffield where it has been very well received resulting in several headline shows.
Blackwater Lightship have seen some exciting developments in the last year including recording their debut EP, a live session with Folkscape as well as continuing to gig around their hometown of Sheffield. And a new member, Dan Oram!
