PROGRAM NOTES
My original intent with this work was to write a set of four independent miniatures. After writing the first maximally-sized one, I decided to change course: these four "miniatures" are now my String Quartet No. 1.

Although these four movements are designed to be independent, small amounts of material are used interchangeably between each movement. Most notably, material from the first two movements is used in the third, and material from the third movement is used in the fourth.

The most prominent aural feature of the first movement, Fast and Sprightly, is the recurring "clarion" motive. This motive evolves into various thematic gestures and also reappears in the next two movements. Another prominent feature of the first movement is the use of jazz references. The string quartet is required to "swing," a style of playing usually only utilized by jazz musicians and big bands.

The second movement, Logy, begins by parodying North American, southern-style country waltzes. While composing this movement, I had visions of my mother interrupting "Three good ol’ boys fiddlin’ on a porch in Rabun Gap, GA," quipping at them to stop. The quipping is represented by the first violinist interjecting the "Rob–ert" theme. This strange, surrealistic daydream probably originates from memories of my mother calling my name from the other side of the bedroom door when I was a boy.

A section called "Andrew Lloyd Webber Disease" occurs in the middle of the second movement. This section is a schizophrenic alternation of a sick, dissonant, violin duo with an Andrew Lloyd Webber-sounding viola and cello duo. By the end of the movement, my mother joins the "Good ol’ boys" for a final song, after they have all become sick from eating too many boiled peanuts.

The third movement, Sad, Luscious Adagio, uses material from the first and second movements, but at a much slower tempo. Each player has a featured solo in this movement: the cellist plays a solo in double-stops and the violinist plays one made up of almost entirely artificial harmonics. The second violin and viola solos are intended to highlight the instruments’ singing qualities and the performers’ lyrical abilities. As with Logy, I use material recycled from previous movements.

Although the fourth movement, Energetic Polka, is not a strict polka, it has a polka-like beginning. It also contains a few short "quotes," the most notable one being the appropriation of the melodic line from the theme song from the television show The Love Boat.

Material from other movements is also used in Energetic Polka, particularly by the cello. The cellist never has a chance to play the "Pseudo-fugato" theme in Logy, so the cellist "aggressively" reintroduces it in this movement. Energetic Polka ends with a section entitled "Hyperfast shimmy and shake."

My music has a lot of variety in a way that expresses all kinds of sentiments, both intrapersonal and extrapersonal, kept in a cohesion by an underlying narrative; every composition is its own journey or a adventure, and I invite any guests who stumble upon my page to take part in it.

American composer Robert Paterson is a true New Yorker—born and bred in Buffalo, he lived in Rochester and Ithaca for over ten years, in New York City for over twenty years, and now lives in Saratoga Springs, near the Adirondacks. Paterson’s colorful music embraces a wide variety of themes, everything from goddesses and online dating to mathematics and the environment. His music is filled with emotion and fierce rhythmic energy, marked by elegance, wit, and meticulous craftsmanship. Named Composer of The Year by the Classical Recording Foundation at Carnegie Hall, Paterson is the winner of the Alfred I. DuPont Award, and his opera Three Way won the Grammy® under Best Classical Producer of the Year. His music is often a Best of the Year pick on National Public Radio. His orchestral tone poem, Dark Mountains, regularly airs on NPR’s Performance Today. Three Way premiered with Nashville Opera, then BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), and across the United States. Minnesota Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, The Oratorio Society of New York, Buffalo Philharmonic, Albany Pro Musica, Albany Symphony, Musica Sacra, Austin Symphony, Vermont Symphony, and ensembles worldwide perform his works. Magdalena Meisel is a singer from Katowice, Poland. 

Magdalena took part in the Polish entertainment show, „Bitwa na Głosy”, where she performed along with the winning group led by the lead vocalist of the band FEEL. During the series, she brilliantly sang “Time To Say Goodby”, and she gained the judge’s recognition for giving a memorable performance of Bajm’s “Biała armia” in the final show. 

Magdalena exhibited her talent in the Polish talent show, “Szansa na sukces”, as well as the second edition of the music competition show, X-Factor. She also appeared in the 3rd edition of “The Voice of Poland”, where she sang with the group of other contestants coached by Marek Piekarczyk, the lead vocalist of the rock band TSA. Magda performed three songs winning the battle and the knockout stages of the competition and advanced to the live playoff along with the other three finalists, selected by Marek Piekarczyk.

She continues to perform as a solo singer partaking in a variety of music events. She hosts live concerts as well as business parties and events. 

Magdalena graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice with Master’s Degree in Violin Performance, and she is a member of the Częstochowa Philharmonic Orchestra. She also teaches violin and she conducts educational activities.

Kuzman is a multifaceted musician and artist based in Skopje, Macedonia. With a background in classical training, he has honed his skills as a composer, thereminist, and sound designer.

His debut solo album, "Collective Zero," marks Kuzman's first foray into the world of studio albums as a solo artist. This highly anticipated release follows his successful tenure with the Berlin-based band, The Protagonist, where Kuzman played a pivotal role in shaping their distinct sound and artistic direction.

Alongside his contributions to The Protagonist, Kuzman has collaborated with renowned producer Gareth Jones on the "OLAL" project. This collaboration has further showcased his versatility and creative prowess, enabling him to explore new sonic landscapes and experiment with innovative musical approaches. The project has received acclaim for its groundbreaking soundscapes and captivating compositions.

With an unwavering passion for music and dedication to his craft, Kuzman continues to captivate audiences. His unique blend of classical training and innovative sound design experiments solidify his position as an artist to watch.



An independent casual pianist and a music artist who loves to create gentle melodies of a song, with the piano as my first musical instrument. 

I started my music journey with a classical piano teacher from 2010-2014. During these years I improved my hand coordination and finger dexterity for my piano playing, as well as learning the techniques in classical piano that would be useful for my later years in terms of piano playing.

After that, I joined a jazz piano school from 2014 to 2016 to learn more contemporary music pieces. I learned more in improvising my own style to the piano. I learned some basic foundations as well that allow me to play basic beginner-level jazz music.

From 2016 to 2019, I have been playing an electronic keyboard with a music band in a local church in which most of the dominant genre is rock, and also acoustic music in a Christian community at my university. I occasionally play the electronic keyboard solo as well during the worship session of the church. Here I experienced live collaboration with my bandmates as well and learned to play music on wide audiences. I learned how different musical instruments have different purposes and different textures to the overall music. 

From 2019 to 2020, I have been spending my years discovering several genres of music that suit my taste and finding my personal branding. I explored and listened to different styles during these years. These include heavy metal, EDM, a-cappella, and many other genres that I have not listened to actively before. This also includes learning the basics of music production and the general components that made up a piece of music.

Now, in the late 2020s, I started my journey by covering some of the songs I find it touching to the heart and moves my emotion. I started my music production and cover in SoundCloud as my first stepping stone. I’m planning to create music that touched the emotions of people intimately.
