Norman was a good robot boy. He served an alchemist for many years. Sadly Norman was much neglected. He became unkempt and weathered.

One day a wise bruja found Norman washed up on the shore in a little cove of rock. He was covered in sand and seaweed, his face gloomy and sad.

The bruja cared for Norman, erasing the troubled lines of mistreatment from his face, restoring his animatronics to good working order. Norman was happy once again. 

From then on he led a carefree life, running through Bruja's orchards, making kites to fly, gazing at the clouds, and naming them each day.

A Book Of Clouds

all my clouds have names:
Churnumbulus, Stratoruckus
the ones reaching
through atmosphere
and into space
are called Moonthatchers
or Sunmyrk dependant on
time of year and polar declination.

low hanging cumulus
lurking within a thunderstrike
of ground and looking to sky
i call those Starwatchers
them what sail cheerily past in Spring
at high velocity drawing
cheers of amazement
from alpine meadow flowers
those are Windspell

if they form a still mist and
surround my orchard
early morn in thick blankets
caressing my apple trees
those dear friends,
those are called Chimbassay

This song was written in support of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests a few years ago - and holds true today for anyone seeking company on the challenging but rewarding journey of independence in this world.
