Josh Mizruchi spent his childhood years in various areas of New York City and Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he began learning to play the trumpet at the age of eleven.  Upon hearing Miles Davis's Kind of Blue and Clifford Brown's A Study in Brown shortly afterward, he became very interested in playing.  At the age of twelve, drummer Sean Dobbins invited Josh to sit in with his band, giving Josh his first shove into the music industry.  Josh also got to sit in with revered jazz trumpeter Louis Smith, as well as Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra members Seneca Black and Rodney Whitaker, who encouraged the young player.  In high school, Josh made his first professional recording at the age of 15.  Later, he attended the summer camp at Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Josh completed his Bachelors degree in music at the University of Michigan, where he studied with Bill Lucas, and his Masters degree (on scholarship) at the New England Conservatory, where he studied with John McNeil and Steve Emery.  As a student, Josh played professionally with many bands in the Detroit and Boston areas before relocating to New York City in September of 2012.  

Josh has performed with a wide variety of artists, including Terence Blanchard, Michael Philip Mossman, Jimmy Cobb, Geri Allen, Arturo O'Farrill & The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Barry Harris Orchestra, Roy Hargrove, Dave Holland, Christian McBride, David Liebman, Valerie Simpson, Antonio Hart, Lin Biviano, Dick Oatts, Jimmy Owens, Louis Hayes, George Cables, Mic Gillette, Anat Cohen, Johnny Markowski (drummer, New Riders of The Purple Sage), Steve Wilson, Papo Vazquez, Etienne Charles, John McNeil, Marvin Stamm, Walter White, Vince DiMartino, and Winard Harper, among many others.

Recently, Josh has performed shows opposite such artists as Ben Folds, The Violent Femmes, Al Foster, Joe Magnarelli, Mary Sarah, Ari Hest, Valarie Adams and the Dimension Band, and Reg E. Gaines, garnering positive reviews.  He also recently played alongside members of Parliament-Funkadelic in a performance honoring the legendary funk ensemble.  He performed on The Today Show on NBC for the celebration of the Royal Wedding, and his jazz festival credits include the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival, the ISIM Conference (Northwestern University), the IAJE Conference (New York City), as well as the Riverview, Montclair, City College and Hell's Kitchen jazz festivals (among many others).  Josh has released two solo recordings, "Josh Mizruchi" and "From Boston to New York," and has over one hundred audio and video recordings of live performances to his credit.   

As an educator, Josh has earned a reputation for being able to help players of all abilities with their playing, as well as guiding young trumpet players to develop correct playing habits in the early stages of their studies.  He is very well-versed in the Dr. Donald S. Reinhardt method for brass, which he has studied with Dave Sheetz, Rich Willey, and Chris LaBarbera.

Jazz/Fusion keyboard player, composer and producer.  Marketing, advertising, publishing and sales career.  Originally from Chicago, where I developed a strong appreciation for the blues and classical, and moved to New York, where jazz and the fine arts are so deep.
