Seven for a Secret (not to be told) was inspired by the traditional children's nursery rhyme One for Sorrow. The nursery rhyme is based on an old superstition, which states that the number of magpies one sees determines if one will have bad luck or good luck. 

A common version of the rhyme is the following one:

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
not to be told.
Eight for Heaven, 
Nine for Hell,
Ten for the devil's own sell.

The Last Survivor

SA Singles Series I

The SA Singles Series features new music by innovative, emerging composers. The debut release, Eyes Ahead, comes from composer Homay Schmitz.

The string quartet piece was commissioned in partnership with The Church Studios, Spitfire Audio and Foundation FM as part of an International Women’s Day initiative that saw Paul Epworth’s Church Studios open up its doors to female-identifying, aspiring engineers and producers. Attendees were a central part of the one-day event that included the recording, mixing and mastering of Homay's composition by a powerhouse team — Fiona Cruickshank, Marta Salogni and Katie Tavini.

This is a celebratory jig I composed in honor of the wonderful Forest Park I'm fortunate to live near.  The tunes name, DarkIing Wood, is taken from a poem by William Cullen Bryant called "A Forest Hymn"

Specialized in working on projects with real orchestras with more than 20 years of experience.

I worked on film scores for many international productions, including the Golden Globe 2024 nominee SUZUME, STAR WARS VISIONS, SAVE ANGEL HOPE, TELL, A WAR WITHIN and LIEBLING, LASS UNS SCHEIDEN. I co-composed the multi award winning musical DÄLLEBACH KARI, (co-)arranged the hit show THE ONE and VIVID at Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin and worked on highly successful game music scores such as BATMAN – ARKHAM SHADOW, LINEAGE W, ANNO 1404, BLACK PROPHECY, and HALO LEGENDS. My scores for HERO and A FATHER’S JOB won several awards around the world.

Besides my work for media I also write music for several international artists such as ANASTACIA, GARY BARLOW, RONAN KEATING, BONNIE TYLER, SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR, SARAH CONNOR, THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and others. I won a Golden Record for my arrangements for ALEX CHRISTENSEN.

I’m holding a diploma in composition, arrangement and piano from the music university in Dresden, Germany.
