There are two types of power: fake power and true power.

Fake power is fleeting, limited and fragile. Social standing, financial worth, positions and titles all come from this realm of power.

At the current evolution point of our world, the majority reveres the first form. Those with the most social media followers, material objects and public adulation are considered to be the winners.

And yet, I deeply believe that the genuine heroes and the authentic titans are the very few who measure their greatness by the magic of their work, the size of their impact and by the purity of their character.

Yes our planet is dealing with a plague and wars and wildfires and social unrest. Yet, you have the true power to manage your mind, open your heart, upgrade your fitness and send your soul aflight with joy and service.

You do have this power. This I know to be true.

These are complex times and each of us needs to protect our positivity, defend our productivity and insulate our courage.

We are called human beings versus “human doings” for a reason: we’re meant to take breaks from our creativity, productivity and contribution to our community. Exhausted people never become game-changers. Or joyful souls.

Non-stop working [and social media checking] leaves no room for new ideas to incubate [and novel experiences to reform your imagination].

The pandemic has forced us all to slow down. This gives us the great chance to get to know ourselves better. Our gifts and talents. Our fears and wounds. And as we use this period to build higher selves, we remake tragedy into triumph.

You know I’m an evangelist around the whole idea of being ultra-fit if you want to be the best of breed. Getting into world-class physical condition is one of the smartest moves a leader (and remember-if you consume oxygen, you have the opportunity to behave like a leader) can make. Exercising will make you look better, feel stronger and fill you with boundless energy.

Produce fresh solutions.

...disrupt or be disrupted.

...adapt or be defeated.

During this season, rather than play victim and wish things were the way they used to be (those days are gone), elevate your leadership game and out-invent everyone around you.

Suffering has always provided soil for awesome creativity, next-level productivity and innovation.

An Exercise to Help You Become Undefeatable in Your Marketplace

People who “win”, in the sense that they craft gorgeous and fulfilling lives for themselves, also build a community around themselves, filled with strong bonds with neighbors, friends and loved ones.

When I read of the lives others have lived, I’m offered clues on what’s most important in life. Obituaries of lives well-lived actually share consistent themes, I’ve discovered. Family. Contribution to community. Kindness through small, simple acts. Love.

I’ve yet to read an obituary that says “he died peacefully surrounded by his banker, his stockbroker and his accountant.” No, the good ones all speak of being close to loved ones and of the impact the deceased had on the world around them.

She never imagined the dystopian future would come so soon. In an attempt to explain what's going on today, she examines the Great Resets of the past, from Russian serfdom, to the Russian Revolution (Lenin's "Great Reset"), and growing up during the collapse of the Soviet Union. She talks about "disease blackmail" and how she's skeptical on putting much weight on "isms", but the ideology of Davos communism is what the Bolsheviks were using. She talks about rock stars going "Covid Central," what the Algorithm Ghetto might look like, and how we all have an inner technocrat. Tessa doesn't think Davos will get what it wants because it's just too crazy.

About Tessa Lena
Tessa Lena is a strongly opinionated musician living in New York. She is a classically trained pianist and singer, born and raised in Moscow.

As a teenager, Tessa had the honor of performing her own composition at the Moscow Conservatory, and wanted to be a geneticist.

As her interests expanded to Tibetan music and language, she headed to Lhasa with a backpack to do a field study in linguistics and enthomusicology.

After being attacked by a sex trafficker in Southern China and successfully fighting him off, Tessa settled in Chicago.

In Chicago, she started a band working with her hero Ian McDonald of King Crimson and Foreigner, and drummer Alan Lake, who has played and recorded with Madonna, Brian Ferry, Julian Lennon, Ministry, Brian Wilson and Sam Moore from Sam And Dave.

After a few years in Chicago, Tessa moved to New York and started a new band, Tessa Makes Love, along with occasional collaborations by Ian McDonald.

In 2013, her music video “Spente Le Stelle” received over a million very useful views on YouTube although the jury is still out on how many people realized that the video was a satire. Alas, the world keeps spinning, and it is still imperfect!

In 2016, Tessa started Coalition for Artistic Dignity and organized a conference in Brooklyn dedicated to artistic dignity, social power and corporate responsibility.

In early 2017, she released an album titled ‘Tessa Fights Robots,’ you can listen and buy it here.

Since the English language only has so many words, this blog is also called ‘Tessa Fights Robots.’

Both the album and the blog are about being human in the world of technology, big data, and machine-like people.​
