May 27th 2023 I was opening the DEEP IN THE BOX night at Tresor´s Globus. It was a great pleasure to building up the floor slowly for @DanaRuh´s wonderful live set, followed by Dj sets of @RogerGerressen and @Julie-Marghilano.

Offenbach’s Oliver Hafenbauer is a key figure at the highly respected Robert Johnson club and the label Die Orakel. He’s also one of the founders of EOS Radio. A lesson in "diva house and horniness" from a modern New York darling.  

Ask Kilopatrah Jones who their favourite DJ is, and they'll give you an unequivocal answer: Junior Vasquez. And the influence is telling. Both born and raised in Queens, the two share a sense of house as a life force. Not in a new-age, spiritual sense. For Jones, it means being "sweaty, panting and free." 

The NYC DJ can play anything from techno to drum & bass, but when playing house, there's a particular sense of clarity: they understand the genre in the same lineage as Vasquez, Larry Levan and his peers, as the sound of reinvention, transgression, glamour and joy. 

Across the following two hours, RA.1013 immerses you in that world. It feels like walking into the Sound Factory at peak-time, bodies in glorious motion, fog thick in the air. The Lot Radio resident runs through familiar classics, bringing it home with a gag-inducing sweep of Donna Summer, Celine Dion, CeCe Peniston—and fittingly ends with Madonna, a wink to Jones's hero and his defining moment, "If Madonna Calls." 

Jones' RA Mix also reasserts the idea that clubs should be a place of joy. Not only for our individual needs and fulfillment, but as a political act—especially for marginalised folk. Arriving at a time when systemic regression and cultural decay feels increasingly pervasive, they is a model for what DJs and dance floors can, and arguably should be. As they put it, "I'm just so happy and grateful to be alive and in this body."

Kind-spirited troublemaker, dance~music maniac, and foundational force behind Pluto — a multidisciplinary art and music space in Gothenburg, run in collaboration with fellow residents, Sara Granér, @jens-lekman, and @christofferberg

Together with Christoffer, we also occasionally host a micro-club powered by his custom DIY sound system "LoveWithinSound", creating immersive dancefloor experiences inspired by the ethos of David Mancuso’s The Loft back in New York.

Pluto was founded back in 2021 when blessed with a rare opportunity to take over a historic space down in the harbour, which once served as a studio for the Swedish pop wonder Ace of Base. The space was renovated  with the help of a dear friend, without a clear intent of what to make of it. In this newfound sanctuary, a year later, I started learning to DJ myself as a way to uplift my spirit, reminiscing over the end of an era. Having then moved back from Berlin, where I had spent close to a decade vividly celebrating life and grinding the grim tech scene after finishing uni. 

Inspired to keep the fire burning while now back in the Shire. Pluto today serves not only as a base of daily operations for a handful resident artists. But also facilitates an extended community and various cultural projects. Much of the alsters found on this profile is likely a direct or indirect result of our Plutoverse.
