Bacter & Saga Musix - Deep Space

This is the background music played in Supreme League of Patriots' "Tech Room" area, one of over 30 unique locations in the game. Read all the exciting details about the game itself in the "Main Titles" track description!

This track, like the title theme, features the incredible Jim Scimonetti on saxophone, and me on keyboards and bass guitar. This track is what caused Jim, a veteran session multi-woodwind master, to tell me our recording was the most fun he's ever had in a studio. He was laughing like a kid. It was so awesome.

While writing this piece, the direction I had in mind was "Imagine an 80s detective drama where the title logo fades in over a night-time shot of NYC, viewed from the water, followed by a montage of detective driving in his muscle car, a classy lady in a bar drawing a loaded gun, and an obligatory clip of the detective's well-intentioned robotic ops assistant / butler, who is always getting in over his head." I hope you will agree, that's exactly how it turned out.

This is Square Dance, a jazz/fusion-ish tune I wrote during a burst of inspiration, using some familiar sounds :) I had so much fun making it!

There are many ways of making music in the Chiptune scene. I'm one of those who mix old and new. But this time, I had the great pleasure to compose an album that, with its chords and melodies, entirely relied on Inphonik's RYM2612 Iconic FM Synthesizer. It's a way to remember that the greatest composers have also written some of the best pieces of video game music for the Sega Genesis.

Thanks to Mathieu Demange and his fantastic VST plug-in, I've envisioned myself composing an album filled with all the things I love. This synth cries for funk and all its sub-genres so much that in my head, FM doesn't mean Frequency Modulation, but Funk Master! I've been born with FM synth music, and there's no doubt I'll die with it...
